Default need piston help

I have a 408 that I'm building. I have a 4.00 eagle crank a 2002 6.0 iron block scat 6.125 rods tsp stage 1.5 ls6 heads. I am trying to get to 13:1 compression is there a piston out there to accomplish this or do I need to special order them? This engine will be a E85 moter when its done. I have been looking for high compression lsx's but haven't seen many around here is there a reason that no one runs high compression on a ls1? Oh this will be a spray baby also.

I can oder you a nice beefy set of pistons from Ross or Diamond and I'll figure out all the specs for you to get it at 13:1.

Just use this.

http://www.rosspistons.com/calculator.php

or

http://www.csgnetwork.com/compcalc.html

Assuming you have a 4.030 Bore X 4.00 Stroke and 61 CC Chambers you're going to need a small dome piston to accomplish this. Most off the shelf pistons will net you somewhere in the mid 12's.

I found that +10 cc dome pistons from diamond with my 59 cc heads will bring me to 13.2:1 Thanks for the help guys.

That's what I was going to say.... might not be best for detonation resistance though.

Why would it be bad for detonation?

You should be in pretty good shape using E85 from a CR standpoint. It has twice the Latent Heat of Vaporization as 100% gas. But of course it is also dependant on DCR. Good luck.

A lot of it has to do with flame travel, and the combustion process.

On E-85 I wouldn't be too worried though.

Well on my 346 the E85 vs 92 pump gas was quite the power differance. I've been seeing alot of 14.5:1 e85 engines I think 13.2 should be pretty conservative.

Must be nice living in a state that has that choice at the pump. Freedom from imported oil and imported cars! We only have 3 stations that I'm aware of in the state that carry E85. I hear California has only a few. So much for them being so progressive!
Have you thought about using alcohol in place of your gas in your nitrous system?

Well I have been told that the alcohol will wreck the O-rings in the noids. In fact I have expieranced that already with only a 10% mix of ethanol. It seams to swell the o-rings and the noid stays partially open. Well I had a problem with the Cold fusion but never the NX.
