Exactly what the topic heading says. The first part of this post is going to be a poll, and the second part is going to be a big 'ol question by me. So if you like or dislike the factory hood, post and let me know. Moving on.....
I like the stock hood, but I like the WS6 Ram Air and Ram Air H.O. too, and I'd really like for people to look in their rear view and get scared The reason I'm asking is there are 4 things I want, but can only afford 2 of them, and it'll be a while (probably a year to a year and a half) before I can get the other two things. Here they are....
1) Good Stereo System (Sound Quality)
2) ASCD WS6 or SLP Ram Air H.O. Hood
3) American Racing Torq Thrust II rims (17x9.5)
4) Yank or Precision Industries Converter (Void 20,000 miles on my extended warranty)
I'm thinking of just waiting on the converter, since it'll void my warranty, and worry about it on the next round of big mods (since warranty will just be out by then, get a converter and nitrous). I'd like to get my car looking really good with a hood and rims, but I'd only be able to afford an ASCD WS6 hood (most likely what I would get) so I couldn't go genuine GM, plus I've heard red is a hard color to match, so that would probably be more money in prep work. I'm just trying to get all my ducks in a row before I go out and blow alot of money. Thanks for any help/advice.

Hey PSJ, how much did prep and paint cost on that hood, if you don't mind me asking. I'm just trying to get a ballpark figure. Thanks for any info man.

look around on the classifieds for stuff! i like the WS6 hood for BOLD statements but i am partial to the Raptor hood. i got my 2800 vig. converter and install for $200 less than what just the stall cost alone new!

Paint and prep is anywhere from $300 - 500. It doesn't really need more than a light sand.
In those pics, mine is still not even buffed either.

definately go with the rims and hood if you are single ...... it always helps to pick up the women!!!!!!!!!!! LOL ..... IMO the Suncoast Creations Raptor hood is the best looking...... the Ram Air H.O. looks good but to me it looks like the openings are squared off or something and it just doesnt click like the Raptor hood Check the Green Formula on Thunderracing.com
FINE!!!!!!!! is all I can say!!

Thanks for all the input guys, I'm getting hood/rims for sure. I'd go converter, but when I got the car, it was sort of a present for graduating at the top of my class w/ honors and all that good stuff. I had to pay for it but my parents co-signed for me and they also bought a $1,600 extended warranty, and I've still got 20,000 miles left so I'm going to keep it in tact. Plus I'd like to do converter, nitrous, and get autotap and headers all at the same time, so tht stuff will have to wait. It's really a question of either the WS6 hood or the SLP hood. I like the bigger inlets for the H.O. hood and the fact that not alot of people have it as opposed to the WS6 hood where they are more common, but I think the H.O. hood looks odd the way the nostrils go straight up the hood, whereas on the WS6 hood the nostrils "flare" more towards the winshield (it spreads more towards the fenders, nostrils get wider). I really like both though, so it's going to be a hard choice to make. But the SLP has a slight advantage; my car isn't a WS6 and I like to be different, so I might get the SLP hood ($100 cheaper) for different looks and better price, but I do prefer the WS6 hood's looks slightly more. I have yet to see the H.O. hood in person, so when I get a chance to, I'll make my decision from there.

Have you looked at Mecham's heat extractor hood? I like it a lot, but not enough to take off my Firehawk hood. Low profile nostrils like the 'hawk, but its got large heat extractors at the back of the hood. Mecham Performance

The Mecham is a pretty hood, but due to high cost & fitment issues, I have a hard time recommending it to anyone. I'd say (in order of preference): Raptor, genuine GM WS6, WS6-look-a-like, SLP HO...
See my Mecham hood pics on my site:

Exactly!! I love the stock hood, because I love getting that response. And since my formula has only 1 exhaust pipe from the 3 inch single outlet flowmaster, I have gotten "Hey is that a v6??"
If I got a new hood, I'd use the raptor one from suncoast, or the WS6 hood.
