personally i would get the hood now and wait till after winter for the rims and tires. mecham hood is my favorite hood for the trans am but the quality isnt the greatest from what ive seen and heard. a lot of blocking, some fiberglass work, and polyester filler should take care of it.

I say wheels first, the sleek beak looks fine for now. Nobody should have to suffer with 245's.

my other choice is 18x9.5 c6 z06s in black, but they are hard to find. there's a couple sets up for bid on ebay, but i'd only be able to run a 285 at most on a 9.5

i'd get the superhawk or firehawk hood. ws6 isnt rare and doesnt look as good imo. then tint black windows, fogs, tails, and brake light. when you get some more $$$ lower it. would look awesome, especially at night.

as far as looks, if you have all black wheels then the difference between 16s and 18s is less noticeable. if you want the performance, maybe you should go with that first. you have to figure out if its looks or performance you want now.

i know what ur saying...i'm gonna see how my budget pans out...tint is definitely in the works. i had the blackouts on the fogs, i didn't like it. Someone stole my blackout tailight covers, and i think it looks cleaner without them. the brake light i might do in the near future.

i just wish there was a thicker tire than a 255/50/16...i might just do M/T drag radials in the future and then just get the hood. i definitely wanna lower it, but I am not sure what springs to go with into order be low, yet still maintain launching capabilities at the track

i voted for....well really, any hood, i just cant bare to see any bird with the flat hood, makes me cry. And i would say you are thinking in the right direction, some DR's would be ok to have some more tire.

I didn't vote yet. If it was me, I would bid on a WS9 hood. You may get lucky and get it for cheap. If you lose the bid I would just go after the rims and keep bidding on the hood. You will be much happier if you win the hood for a good price and buy the rims in the mean time. Just my 2 cents.

I would go for the wheels. I've had bad experiences with aftermarket fierglass hoods no sponsor here though. OEM is much better so that means more money and later down the road. Firehawk hood is oem quality and not everyone has one.
Heres mine:

Go with the wheels for now, 17x11's outback look right at home on the T/A's. Get the rims first then after you have the rims figure out which hood you want!

Wheels first. No question about it.

A car with an aftermarket hood looks very strange - out of proportion really - with stock 16" wheels. Unless you have 17 inch wheels right now, forget about doing the hood first.

I urge you to find 3 Firebirds that look good with stock 16" wheels and an aftermarket hood. IMO, there are very few.

On the other hand, there are countless examples of "sleek beaks" with nice wheels.

Just some food for thought.

i've been looking into other wheels, but for a 20 year old in school on a budget, vette wheels are the way to go. or i'm just gonna save forever and get the billet specialties slicks and skinnies...

i've been hunting ebay for OEM hoods...if i can't find one, VFN has a good price for a ws6 hood...i'd buy the ws9, but it basically looks the same as the ws6, so i can't justify spending an extra 200 bucks for the heat extractors

When I said WS9 I was talking about the one I have made by Roger. He only sales them on ebay. He is also on here but I do not think he is sponser. The VFN WS9 is the outlaw model and to big (to me at least).

I was on VFN's website last night, and it said it was the same style as the U.S. exotics WS9...it looks just like the ws6 except with heat extractors...do u have pics of the other ws9? plus VFN is in addison, IL, which is about 20 minutes from my house. I wouldn't even need shipping.

Trust me its not. They got the mold from Roger. The "OUTLAW" is taller.

You can pm flaminbird, detoxx, just few off the top of my head to see if they have any pics.
Here are some old pics of mine.
