I wouldnt get one then. If you were involved in an accident, the rear passengers could be seriously injured. All they have back there is a lap belt, so if you get hit their heads could either go forward or sidewides. One way or the other they'll hit the bars.

yea, the back seats are just an insurance "decoration"; god for bid you get into an accident (off the track), when the adjuster comes to look at the damage they can't throw some BS "this is a race car" line at you. If the car still has backseats, functional or not, you can still argue it isn't a "race car" and that the "roll bar" is actually a "chasis stiffener".

i wanted to put some padding on the rear bars to cushion it slightly. also have 2 more DOT legal 4 point harnesses.

regardless its going to be uncomfortable and a tight fit. and probably wont be able to put a 10lb bottle on the center console anymore

If you are getting a cage like that, DO NOT PUT ANYONE IN THE BACK SEAT!!!!! A 1/2" little piece of foam does NOTHING in a real accident.
A friend in high school had a 93 Fbody, took some friends out for a ride. No racing, or showing off either (he was actually very responsible driver). It was a bottom 11 sec car. They were hit by someone running a red light. The guy in the rear seat hit his head on the rear bar, and his chest on the bar in front of his seat.

The results: The concusion put him in a coma for 2 weeks. The bar that hit his chest broke his sternum and 4 ribs, also collapsing one of his lungs. He nearly died, they had to medivac him by helicopter.

Why does this pertain to you, you might ask? There was full padding on the entire cage. Car was hit at only 30mph.

Please for the love of God, do not put your gf or your friend's gf back there.

thats a good point

sounds like even with the 4 point harnesses back there ther head could still hit the side bar

thats why you buy the foam padding and put it back there. my cage bolted together in the formula but you can buy the weld in

also after i put the cage in on the stock suspension setup the car felt about 2 or 3 times stiffer. if i was lowered with a stb and sfc's the car probably would have felt like it was on rails

again, that foam padding does not make it safe for people in the back.
