Default My 98 Trans Am With GTO Seats

To all that said it could not be done, here it is.....
This is my 98 Trans Am with 2005 GTO Seats! Yes they do fit! No they are not too wide. It does require making your own brackets but I used some scrap straight steel stock for the fronts and some scrape angle Iron for the back and was able to use the factory mounting points of the T/A seats. It also allowed me to lower the rear of the seat and make up room since the seat bottoms are thicker than the factory seats. Yes they are heavier and alot of it is in the seat tracks and all the motors for the seats, but I figure my fat *** could stand to loose 30 lbs so it will be a wash

Here are some pics, I just finished the wiring and I am done for the night so they have not been cleaned yet.

Yes they are blue but a paid less than half for these than a black pair, I did not want to spend a grand only to find out the really would not fit. I am going to either dye them black or get them re done in dark pewter like the rest of the car.

Thats cool that you got them in and everything but why that color? It looks so out of place, a nice set of black ones and that would have been awesome

Well I got them for cheap more than half what all the other colors are going for. I did not want to pay a 1000 and not have them fit. I figure I can dye them black or recover them after the install.

Good job on the install, now just get them upholstered to match your existing interior and they'll look a lot better.

he is going to get a diff color guys.. he said he got these because they were half the price that all the other seats were going for.

and also when he has them reupholstered it will get rid of the "GTO" in the middle of the seats, which makes them more out of place lol

hows head room tho? the top of the seats look pretty close to the roof from the pics.

Good job.... they look great. I would either dye them to match, or add similar accents to the rest of the car's interior.

The head room is not that much different. I am 6'3" and a sit very well in them. Right now the passenger side is sitting at its final position, the driver side still needs to be lowered, I will be cutting off the old mounting brackets and welding new ones on tomorrow. Which will lower the back of the seat. Also the backs on these seats are much higher than the factory seats and the head rests are up on them in the pics so it looks like the head room is diminished but it really isnt, I lost about 1/2 and inch.

Very nice! How's the comfort level vs. the 4th gen seats? I havent been in a GTO yet... They seem like they'd be more cushy yet still supportive.

What adjustments do those seats have? Any lumbar/side bolster bags?

Last question... Can you take pictures of the brackets that you made and maybe some of the brackets while the seats are bolted in? You mentioned you still have to mess with the drivers seat...so if you have to take it out, would be a good time for more pics!!!

Again...looks great. Good to be different isnt it?

They are way more comfortable. I am tall so the factory seats just did not support me. These things are full power, up, down, and recline as well as having lumbar adjustment. Yes I do have to take the seat out I am I will take alot of pics for you.

Pontiacs always had better seats than chevies. I like the t/a seats even better than the corvette seats.

A huge factor for me buying my car over a camaro ss was the seats. I've never sat in the gto seats, but they do look comfortable.

I actually like the color of them, and think it would look good to have your door panels recovered in the same color. Would add a nice updated look to the t/a interior.
