I've got a black SS that I had to pull the motor on. I want ot paint the bay while it is out. I was just going to paint it the same as the black cleared exterior, but I want an understated show look (if that makes sense) and am considering going satin black. Does anyone have pics?

Haven't seen pictures of it but it sounds like a great idea. Not too flashy, but clean and subtle. That's what I strive for.

i think it looks great and much easier to day... i wouldnt even prep that and no clear coat... just like the berger panel.

its a 3rd gen, but you get the effect.
i use satin black everywhere..... its what makes the car.
flat turns colors and gloss shows the ugly.

ive tried several different brands, and the VHT engine paint is by far the best in color, though i dont like how the paint sprays out of the can compared to duplicolor and similar brands.
