Default Corvette Plate Mod on a Trans Am

has anyone ever rigged up something like the corvette guys do? ive seen the mod for a while now, but ive never seen it on a ls1 trans am.

maybe someone can make a duct that can provide better air flow to the bottom side of the lid.

ive seen guys on CF just cutout three small round holes, just incase they ever want to remount their plates.

suppose that will get better air flow, but personally think it looked better with the corvette in there

Cool idea. Might look strange on a 'Bird though, because the plate filler is really awkwardly shaped.

The Corvette looks good without a plate as well though:

Kinda cheap looking.... I just don't understand why people put gutter guard from Lowes on the cars... Especially a friggin Corvette...

Now the blue one looks awesome... Kinda like showin a little cleavage!!!

its not gutter guard - they used stainless steel cut from the same material as the stock z06 grilles

I see...

I know all of the 2nd gen dodge truck guys would put gutter guard on their trucks in place of a billet grill, but anyway...

Something just doesn't look right with the yellow car, now the blue car on the other hand

I wouldn't do it to my vette if I had one lol, but the only reason I would do it to my T.A. would be if it was for a intercooler aswell.

I've seen it before this is just one car but I saw another one around here that did it using the factory plate cover with the mesh and even put the bird over it in stainless I believe

Another thing I've seen is a guy cut out the area behind the plate cover, also inside the bumper, and made the plate cover (with the bird) spring-loaded so that when you go above a certain speed, the top of the plate tips backward and [hopefully] channels air up into the lid area. The owners name on 'tech is nalmak

not my taste at all. looks half assed imo. the hole is a weird shape and honestly doesnt seem to be much of a point. there are guys putting down a ton of power without doing that.

nothing wrong with gutter guard though. doesnt look any different than the expensive mesh you buy. but ls1 cars and mesh dont go hand and hand...
