I have been watching this thing since January...HURRY UP!!
Cant wait to see it finished, especially after all the hard work it looks like you have in it. Not to mention the money you have spent to make it what it can be.

Line and fittings for my oil filter setup showed up yesterday:
After fighting with my stainless fuel line, i did a little searching for a better way to cut braided line and came across "Koul Tools'" hose tools and figured i'd give them a try. They sell tools for -4, -6,-8,-10,-12, and -16, usually in kits of 3 or one master kit OR you can buy individual tools. I bought the -6 and -10 tools since that's all i need for now, they were $30 each if i remember. Here's what they look like and how they work:
All you do is cut the hose, put the fitting nut in the tool, and twist the hose in. done. They come with little adapter discs, that's the orange thing behind the nut in the tool, so that you can use the tool with just about any brand of fitting. It takes seconds to put the hose together, instead of mintues or even hours, and there's no bloody fingers or ruined hose either. Best money i ever spent by far. I may go back and take a bunch of pictures and do a write up when i finish the fuel system, just so people can see how easy it is. Even the old school "tried and true" methods of assembling AN hose are a trial and really test one's commitment to hot rodding Just by looking at it, it seems like a vise might do the same job, but not so. The tool has a perfect taper in the opening so the hose, even if it's a gnarly cut, will compress down and go right into the fitting provided you use a little oil/grease and the proper twisting motion. If you just put the nut in the tool and then put the tool in a vise, it's almost stupid how easy it is.

Well i'm totally pissed off now...
I went out to mount the oil filter mount and run the lines. I was test-assembling the mount and fittings. I put the straight -10 to 1/2"npt adapter in one side of the mount and the 90* -10 to 1/2"npt in the other side and held it up to where i was going to mount it to check for clearances. Everything looked awesome, i marked where i wanted my holes to go in the frame rail. I started taking the fittings back out of the mount and the 90* NPT adapter wouldn't come out. I just threaded them by hand, didn't even snug them up hardly at all. I put it in the vise so i could turn a little harder on it and it wouldn't budge. I ended up using a pry bar to get that fitting out of the mount and it fucked it all up, the fitting AND the threads in the mount. From what i can tell, it fucked them up beyond repair. The fitting is DEFINATELY ruined, the first 3 or 4 threads are gone, it looks like it was machined off, and the first couple threads in the mount look fucked too, so i ordered a new fitting and a new mount from Summit, $66.85 down the drain.
EDIT: almost forgot, the -6 Koul Tools hose assembler doesn't fit my -6 fuel line fittings. The fitting nut is too long, ironically the brand is "Big End Performance" if i remember....
I'm giving up on the car for a week until a have my other parts. I'm going to park my *** in front of the TV and play Modern Warfare 2 until UPS shows up wednesday with my parts.

Sounds frustrating for sure. Keep working on it. It will all come together.
I remember when I destroyed a set of fuel rails and fittings like you did. I gave up and ran the stock ones. Still pissed about that

Sorry to hear about your set back. I was just getting on here to bitch about how terrible i am at painting.
Im beginning to like your idea, i may take the rest of the weekend off, and go buy MW2.
You playin on 360?

Yeah, it's a Sunoco, but i actually sold that locally to a buddy. it's now on a Hugger orange car with a black stripe down the middle, looks awesome. I don't have a hood right now, but will HOPEFULLY be picking up a VFN 3" SS hood, or possibly another Sunoco or even a "wide" Sunoco style hood.
having a hugger orange car, id love to see it!

Well here's what's going on now, for those paying attention to the saga that is my build...
The car needs to be returned home, my buddy and his dad are needing the garage space my car is taking up and frankly i'd rather have it home any way. SO...i don't want to fool with hauling the car and all my tools and all my parts and making 3 or 4 trips back and forth so i'm going to be busting *** on finishing the car as much as possible, hopefully resulting in me starting it in the next week or so.
I just ordered a TCI LS starter from Speed Inc., so that should be here sometime next week. My oil filter mount and 90* fitting showed up today. I bought an oil filter and some new wire loom to re-wrap my factory engine harness just so everything looks new and shiny....i even bought brass washers for the bolts i'm using to mount my filter mount like i did on my linelock solenoid My BMR alternator bracket has not arrived yet, but should be here any day now.
I still need a driveshaft and water pump. I really need the driveshaft so i can properly mount my torque arm and DS loop, so that's holding me back right now. As for the water pump, i'm holding off for a deal to pop up. i simply can not pay $640 for one new, that seems pretty rediculous to me.

Hey, why not get the Meziere race pump? I've heard of a few local guys running them with no problems and as clean and spotless as your car is, I can't see you driving it a lot. Atleast I would think you wouldn't. My car is on the same path as yours with replacing every single nut and bolt on the car if possible and I know it will get finished and only be driven on the nicest of days. I bought a Meziere black racepump on a GP. Plus its a lot smaller. Just an idea.

I'm pretty sure my neighbors wouldn't want to hear my car start before 5am with the cam I'm getting today(bigger than a TREX). Plus 45min drive home in traffic with manual steering and brakes makes the drive to and from work a pain so its a track car now. Got a RST truck to daily drive.
As far as heat, I plan to get a lot of use out of my jacket.
