side molding help

Default side molding help

ok i got a silver ss i just bought. i want to take the side moldings off but on the pass. side door and quarter they repainted it and just taped around it..i dont want to paint the car again and a painter said i could get some 1500 and knock down the hard edge and then lightly buff it out. only thing is im scared its going to look like **** cuz the car is clean other wise..what should i do leave the molding on and deal wth it or risk taking it off and try knocking down the egde? help me out

If you know how to do paint correction, go for it.If it doesn't turn out good enough for you reapply the molding.

u could always try to buff down the hard edge. never hurts to try. if it doesnt turn out good, reapply the molding

ill just pull the ones that are like that off and see what i can do..if it doesnt work out then ill just apply the molding back on..wish me luck!

i pulled them off and to my suprise they based and cleared to the bottom of them..so its got a HARD line and it wont sang off unless i burn threw the clear..so i either have to order new moldings or get it painted..

you can't put the old moldings back on? did they break?

I'm confused. If they based and cleared on the bottom of them, you shouldn't have the hard line.

no they based and cleared the bottom of the rocker, door, and fender. and left the molding on so it has a hard tape line where the bottom of the molding was..the old moldings are fine just the tape is all half ripped off and all that..i think im just goin to get it fixed right (repainted) that way i dont have have to worry about it later...

yeah thats the way im looking at it.. i mean i could put the molding back on. but ill still know that its there and it will bugg the hell out of me not knowing its done right. so im just going to get it fixed when i get the extra coin...thanx for the help guys!
