Clean it up first with some kind of degreaser. You can mix dawn and simple green, or clean it with alcohol, or just soap if your limited. Lightly sand the whole lid, make sure it's smooth and there aren't any blemishes or any rough spots that you feel. If you feel it, you'll see it after paint.

Clean it again after sanding it.
2-3 Coats of Duplicolor Adhesion Promoter (it's a clear primer as well, so you don't have to use another primer if you don't want to. However you may get better results with priming, I'm not sure.)

If you want, 2-3 coats primer. Lightly sand the primer smooth, make sure not to sand the primer too hard, you don't want any deep scratches.

3 Coats of your color coat

2-3 Coats Clear coat if you want it nice and shiny.

Hope this helps

ya the adhesion promotor helps the paint stick to the plasic where the flex additive just help the paint be more flexible.

depends on the prep. adhesion promoter helps with the bonding of paint to plastic.
