the only problem with LEDs like those is they require large heat sinks to keep them cool.

How come you used several resistors instead of one main resistor on the positive wire feed? Just wondering cause I may do this later on. Also what MCD leds did you use?

Is it just me or why does the lights seem to dim after appling the brakes?

It does look bad *** tho. Give you props.

^ i think the light dims a little bc of the video camera adjusts to the light.

resistors have to be wired to the negative lead. i chose series-parallel wiring because it is the most efficient. i did run them in series but only 3 in each series since any more wouldnt get them much power.

What size resistors for each set of 3 did you use ? And why resistors on the
neg sides ?

I can help. That's just how wiring LED's works. Power in, then put the resistor onto the ground. You do Series / Parallel wiring because you can only power so many LED's off 12v-14v. Say your LED's are 3.0v a piece, 3.0v x 4 LED's = 12.0v. You won't have enough power to run any more LED's. So you only wire 3 up in Series and use a resistor to take up the remaining voltage.

Here's a link to help you figure out your wiring and resistor values: http://led.linear1.org/led.wiz

Hope that's not too confusing.

i used 1/2 Watt 47 Ohm resistors. the amber LEDs i got to run 4 in series because their forward voltage is lower. 2.91V for the red/orange, 2.2 for the amber

subscribing.....

good work but why not make one big strip of LEDs all red and just seperate sections for brake lights, running lights, and blinkers? i dont believe amber is a required color in the back for turn signals as a lot of cars incorporate their brake lights as turn signals. i think itd look a lot nicer all little red LEDs do it Caddy style!

personally i like the LS1 tail lights better than LT1 thats why i did separate turn signals. and some caddy's did have LED separate turns such as the Catera
