Default Clear corners could cost U big $$$

I bought a pair of clear corners and the amber bulbs were purchased from autozone 3157 one signal light blew out and melted my corners now I have to buy new sockets which are 59.89 each, new clear corners 70.00 and this time LED lights for 30.00, just to replace one bulb. BTW I had to crack both clear corners open to remove the old bulb from being melted onto the clear corners.

But they look good the price we pay!!!

I wasn't too happy with the LED's I put in my clear corners. Not bright enough at all IMO. So far so good with regular bulbs and a couple holes drilled on the bottom of the housing for draining.

Why don't you people seal the clear lights when you first get them. If you can, sand down the joints where the front lense's meet the plastic housing and use a quality silicone sealent to prevent any leaking.

Disable your DRLs, they will last a very long time. Even the stock housings are baked/warped from DRLs on all the time.

Yup what Tony said. The excessive heat build up from the turn signal buld perminately on full brightness is the problem.

Not to dissappoint, but the Jam Straight bulbs don't work. Too dim. During the day oncoming traffic cannot see your turn signal - night time is OK.

And this is NOT directly related to clear corners. OEM lenses will melt too. Mine are, and this is only after 14,000 miles over three years.

Where's the write up for DRL disable . . .

Thats the !DRL link I used to do mine, it works great! You can pick up a cheap soldering pen at Radio Shack for like $10.

If you want to disable the DRL - you can simply remove your radio and pull the connector on the right side (I believe) of that box in there. It will disable the DRL and the Sentenial Lights (whatever you call them). Everything still works fine - just no DRL or auto on lights at night... simple disable and doesn't require any tools other than to yank the radio.

Couldn't you just put a resistor in line with the light bulb to reduce the output wattage of the DRL bulb and thus the heat output of the bulb? I really like the look of the DRL on my car.

More than likely. I too like too look of the DRL,s but if it is going to destroy parts, it has gotta go.

Drive with the parking lights on. Dimmer bulb. Just have to remember to turn the lights off.

Just drilled holes in the bottom, did the DRL mod, no problems. No LED bulb, either. I did, however, put LED's in the rear clears.(Just the right brightness) Now, people don't know what kind of monster is coming at them. You can always tell Corvettes, Camaro's, T.A's, etc.... by the DRL's. Stealthy!! Oh, and it won't melt the housing.

I tried that with my 2nd set. The leaking doesn't come from where the plastic meets the housing, it comes from the socket warping from the heat of the bulbs.

I've got a problem with both of the DRL/blinker housings on my T/A. I go through bulbs faster than I go through toilet paper, and I also get this funky corrosion in the sockets of the bulbs. Any chance this could be due to heat from the DRLs warping the housings and allowing water in? Anyone else had this problem? Anyone have any fixes? I had disabled my DRLs, but then I started having alot of weird problems, like my DRL lights wouldn't come on at all when my parking or headlights were on, wouldn't come on unless my blinker was on, and only then would they come on. Then sometimes one would come on the other wouldn't, and then they'd swap up. Had a hell of a time trying to get 'em right and finally desoldered the DRL Disable, which fixed the one on, one off, but I still get that funky corrosion and bulbs blowing

My LEDs where fine. Did you all get the electronic flasher too? You need to replace the flasher as well. The old thermal flasher will not work right.
