There's alot of grease on it. I'm afraid even with wax & grease remover being used,it might start to peel. Plus I would like to find one in aluminum or stainless.

Lokar is a company that makes flexible dipsticks with an aluminum handle. I broke my stock dipstick when I was putting headers on last fall so I got a lokar. They are nice because you can bend them to make it easier getting them back in and they also sit alot lower than the stock dipstick.

Clean and rough up the old one. hit it with some primer. sand it nice and smooth. prime, sand, paint with your preferred color. go with multiple light coats instead of a single heavy coat. avoiding runs makes it look nicer. Engine Enamel paint from Advance Auto or such should be quite resilient.

Why does everyone jus' paint things black? I think the I would much rather have some contrast and "depth" than for everything to be painted black in the engine bay.

I bought a chrome one from JC Whitney's for like $7. It just fits on ours with a set screw. Works and looks great.
