There's a reason that the 2010 camaro, even after all the cues it took from the 1st gen, still has a center console.

Could be interesting to see though if you do go through with it.

Just do us all a favor. When you move the airbag sensor, DUCK AND COVER! Seriously though, disconnect the battery. Like I said earlier, pretty sweet idea, good luck man. Keep us posted

you could pull it off with a nicely cut, edged carpet that had a shifter boot incorporated into it. That way when you want to work on it. pull the **** and lift the carpet up.

I think this has the potential to be a really cool mod. I also think that disconnecting your airbags completely will be safer than relocating the airbag module. The accelerometers in the module are specifically designed with the factory placement in mind, which is generally as close to the center of the car as possible, and the last thing you want is an unintentional deployment. I have taken my share of airbag classes as a certified Audi tech and they always tell us specifically to never ever relocate air bag modules for this reason. Disconnecting the airbags will also allow you to go with a smaller, more retro steering wheel which would go along with your theme. Just my two cents. Way to think outside the box, I look forward to seeing the finished product. -russ

I've never dealt with airbag sensors.....should I simply, unplug the yellow plug???? I'll make sure I have the battery disconnected

As far as relocating the parking brake....I didn't find any hand assembly I like (or one that would look remotely clean), so I will be going with a foot assembly.....One without a "hand release" ( so I don't have to cut a hole in the dash)
-does anyone know of one that is a step on and step off assembly??

i wouldnt touch any of it. Just lay a piece of edged carpet with some foam over the back. it will sit nice and cleanly on top of everything.

Pull the airbag fuses then disconnect the battery and you're good to go on the airbags. I think its recommeded to wait a few minutes before you work on it though. As far as a push on/push off e-brake, the 04 Monte Carlo I used to have had one. I believe mom's old 98 Grand prix did too. Or if you want a handbrake on the left side of driver, look into the C4 Vette. Good luck!

I ordered a parking brake off of a Monte Carlo...(the push on push off type of foot brake)

So it is time to tear apart the interior.....I'm still not sure what I want to do with the airbag sensor.

Now I have a center console for sale.....everything excluding the lid, I accidentally broke it

is it feasible to make a fiberglass hump to cover the air bag stuff then you could just lay the carpet over that? well i know its feasible just weather or not you can do it and make it flow right

Disconnect the airbag fuse and battery and let it sit for 20 minutes.

You should be fine.

Really cool idea. I think it would be a good idea for me to try since I have nothing but the plastic fenders in the passenger compartment right now.

Good luck.
