Default CONSOLE"less" interior?

I've been trying to incorporate a few "old school" touches here and there on my 2001 SS (M6). From the cursive "camaro" to the Hurst shifter...etc, etc.. and I wanted to do something a little different by removing the console entirely!!

-relocate the e-brake to the drivers left
-relocate the airbag deployment sensor under the passenger seat
-re-carpet the area over the hump
-Utilize a 69' camaro boot and ring

but I had a few questions??? Do I have to orientate the airbag deployment sensor a certian way?....can I move it at all??? is there room to move the e-brake to the left of the driver???

Another idea...is to move the e-brake simple right up against the drivers right side...with a simple bracket

I'm headed to Pull a Part tomorrow to see what I can find that will cover the ebrake gear.....

Where can I find carpet that doesn't have the console holes already cut into it...

I'll take pictures tomorrow

Hmm.. interesting. It could come out really good, or it could come out really bad. I just hope you really know what your doing with this, 'cause I think the slightest mistake will make it look like crap. Make sure to keep us posted!

I wouldn't do it just because it pisses me off when cars don't have arm rests on my right side haha.

interesting idea... but I dont think it would look very good. a lot of people will look into the car and see that something is missing, especially since the car was meant to have the console. good luck though! post plenty of pics!

i think if properly done, this would be a pretty sweet mod. Im not positive but you should be able to relocate the airbag sensor in the center under the dash and make some sort of casing around it so its hidden. the best way to make the carpet seamless though would be to replace it with NEW manufactured carpet with no holes in it. unless you are a seamstress

I'll be moving the airbag sensor under the passenger seat....if that wont throw off anything..

and the plan was to replace the entire carpet...so it would look stock.

but it will all depend on what I can find a pull-a-part to cover up the e-brake gears

I think that would like like hell. Your interior is going to look incomplete. A lot of refinished old cars, the first thing they do is ADD a center console

well, maybe not the first but they do it.

It still won't look very old school because the tranny hump is a lot higher up. It will also be hard to incorporate it into the dash and make it go together. Interesting idea though... good luck, and definitely post pics.

but where will you put your snacks on the road trips? I think it could be done tastefully.....but I would equate it to banging a fat chick....you could do it, and probably get away with it, but it doesn't do you any favors.
