Headlight Cleaner Kits Actually Work!

Headlight Cleaner Kits Actually Work!
Well sonuva bitch! I never really gave these things much merit thinking it was just another sham of a product. My headlights were HORRIBLY yellowed. I pulled them out and sanded & polished them by hand a while ago; and they came out better. But not 100%. Well I was bored over the weekend, found myself at Autozone, and thought I'd give it a try. I bought the 3M kit for $20 that comes w/ the drill adapter, 300/500/3000 grit sandpaper, polish pad, and polish (rubbing compound).
Since mine weren't too bad to start I began w/ the 500, went to the 3k, and polished them up. This stuff is AMAZING!! Granted it's just basic sandpaper and polish on a pad, but the adapter for the drill is what made the difference for me. I'm very pleased w/ the results. This spring / summer I'm pulling the headlights for an engine bay cleanup and doing this process again. Mine aren't 100% quite yet, but they will be soon.
Pics:
Before; still slightly hazed, but not too bad.
During; this is after the 500 grit.
Aaaaand Done; a WORLD of difference.
This is the kit that I bought. Good stuff.

Believe me I know how nasty it is. That pic really doesn't do the filthyness justice. But I suppose I shouldn't brag about that. That's on my list of things to do. The whole engine bay is getting a makeover when the weather warms up.

With a Dremel and cut-off whell. I trimmed it down as close as I felt I safely could, then sanded them down by hand. They're not 100% flush, but they're good enough for me.
Kinda, just plastic polish wouldn't have brought them back to where they are now. I had to take a good bit of material off to get to good plastic. However, mine still aren't 100% so maybe I'll give that stuff a try next time.
