Default Hella 90 in Fog, 2nd part in the series

I installed 90mm Hella low beams in place of my factory fogs.
I'm really happy with them.
Lessons learned:
1) Not for the squimish, I had to pull my facia, and trim it.
2) Get the $12 mounting rings and plugs when you get the lights.
3) Make a trim/surround and install it, before you reinstall the facia. (I didn't)
4) Get the bosch relay, it has 2 output terminals and comes with the connectors and a mounting base.
5) You need to wire a relay in with heavier wiring to support the lights as they draw more than the stock fogs.
6) Bought nylon standoffs(spacers) at lowes to compensate for the shape of the bumper support behind the mounting plate.
7) I used rubber from conveyor belt the I bought at the local industrial supply.

The lights are true projector lenses and easily converted to Zenon in the future.

Default Light Pattern Pictures

Bonus Blue LED, I surprised by the effect of pure blue light on the red controls. These photos are not photo shopped.

stock headlights, I have the eurolamp conversion housing with their super white bulbs to put in but they basically lie in their ad and don't include the plugs. So I had to go buy H7 plugs and I willl hard wire them in. Maybe today.

The DRLs are from VLED. That where I got the interior and license plate. Those are both the high power versions.
of 194 in blue.
Look up 3157 sort on highest price. The DRLs that change color are type 2. Their like $49. or so.

That the funny thing. The color of the lamp is determined by which circuit is used for what. The bulb puts amber on pin B and White on pin C I think. I know that sounds obvious but the lamp module (at work not sure 100% correct name) in our F-bodys switch things up. I personally wanted the DRL's to always be white and the turns to always flash yellow. Once I installed the bulbs I realized it didn't quite work that way. So heres what I observed. During the day with the headlights off the DRL's are amber and the turns flash amber. If the headlights are turned all the way on the the DRL's switch to white. The turns are always amber. I tried to get the DRL's white with the headlight doors closed and the parking lights on. During the day it won't happen but sometimes I can do it at night. I know we have a ambient light sensor for the lamp module even though we don't have auto headlight on. I thong thats the reason for different behavior. I considered modifing my lamp module but I'm happy with them this way. They do make the front look cool with the fogs, head lamps and white markers at night. I have eurolamps to put in should get them in by this weekend. I hope they are as "white" as the markers. I was surprised by the photos because the illumination on the road from the hella'a is much whiter than the factory lamps. In the photo they look yellow like the factory sealed headlamps in the photo of the front of the car. When I look down the road though they are real white?

Is that the license plate light INSIDE the housing for the light? I had an LED in my plate light too but as soon as I put it in the housing it killed it's brightness completely.

Are you using the "2W High Powered 194?"

The Firebird doesn't have an ambient light sensor. The reason for the DRL's different behavior at night versus day is simple wiring and the way its controlled via the BCM.

not sure what to compare them too, plenty bright for turn signals. I'll get a daytime picture for you.
