Question Is the stereo the same for 4th gen Camaros and Firebirds??

Just wondering if the stereo location is the exact same for 93-02 Trans ams / Firebirds and also 97-02 Camaros?
I know the 93-02 Trans Am / Firebird stereos attach with 3 screws. 2 left and 1 in the upper right? Do the 97-02 Camaros attach the exact same way?
Basically would I be able to pull a stereo from a 02 Camaro and put it into a 02 Trans am? Would the bolt pattern be the same?

Other than branding/backlight color they are the same from what I know. You can swap the mount plates I believe. so hole position is of no issue. Best would be to take your radio to the local junkyards and compare the connector blocks on the back.

Very very few will replace their crappy GM headunit with another crappy GM headunit. They will replace them with aftermarket better units.

Right. I am not really concerned with actually swapping stereos. I just need to make sure the hole pattern is the same.
Unfortunately I wont be able to discuss much more of what I am doing without violating the sponsor rules. You will have to contact me with any questions.
Thanks for the replies.

I have been looking at pics of the TA and Camaro dashes and I noticed that too that the bolt holes are not exactly the same. Especially on the left side.
I might do as mentioned above and take my idea into the junkyard for a few mockups. I know it works in the TA and Firebirds but I cant confirm it will work in the Camaros unless I physically put it in there first.
Might go this Saturday for the final mockup.

bolts are different. You have to modify it a little. I did however get a trans am headunit to go in my 97 camaro.

just go and buy any aftermarket head unit install kit. They are always universal between camaros and firebirds so see what pattern they used. I think all you would need to do is make an elongated slot rather than specific holes.
