Default Where to get good HID kit?

What kits are people using out there? I have seen a couple of kits on ebay for about $150 each. Has anybody used these kits? I would get the low beam kit and the fog light kit. Will the hid kit work on with factory fog light and will the low beam kit work with the halo head light? I have heard so many things about this. What temp bulb is everybody going with. Please post pictures. I was thinking about the red hid kit but dont want to get pulled over.

I'm using an $80 ebay kit. Digital slim ballast HID kit by Xentec. I'm using 5000k HIDs, they are pretty white. 6 months and zero issues, plugged straight into stock harness, and have always turned on even in subzero weather.

I got suckered into a fog kit. I am not saying it was from this site or not.
They improved visibility alot when I first got them. Then they flickered alot.

Didn't last very long at all. Both lamps/ballast went out in less than a year. Didn't fit into fog housings good either. I didn't even bother to check what went wrong. I just forgot about them.

They are crap outside of factory applications.

If I even decide to fix it I will go for real hids and not rebased. What a rip.

What are "rebased" HIDs, compared to the "real" HIDs? Haven't heard of rebased before.

I'm just using stock halogen in the fogs (which I need to aim).

Real HID setup: Utilize OEM equipment with a D2S/D2R/D1S/D1R...etc bulb.

HID bulb part numbers start with a "D"

Re-based HID: HID Kits that have a HID capsule on a Halogen bulb base.. in other words, pretty much all HID kits (ex: H9 HID, 9006 HID... they have a HID capsule on a Halogen Bulb base to fit into a Halogen housing).

Oh ok that makes sense...

Well good luck getting 'real' HIDs in these cars, unless doing a retrofit I suppose.

holy crap .... 15000k hid....

The K number is the color temp. It is not the brightness (well not directly, I'll explain). 4000K - 5000K is the brightest. Continuing up the color scale, the light gets bluer then purpler and the lumen output (the actual measurement of light) decreases. In other words, a 15000K HID kit is dimmer than a 4300K HID kit and the light will be pink/purple. Our eyes are least sensitive to blue light. Blue light also scatters more easily. In the end, we can see better with 4300K HID for many reasons.

you makes me laugh, hehe. Good puke.

I agree. We just aren't as sensitive to some lights and sound frequencies.
For me, I think 6K light is beautiful for fogs and white light like the 40k are great for main lamps. Purple lights are annoying and don't do much for you.

I believe that higher Kelvins interact better with uv signs and all but for me i like the warmth of lower frequencies.

I can't say the same thing about this company. I bought a set and they didn't even turn on at all.
Hopefully I can send them back and get another set. Maybe mine were defective.

Polarity? I know on some cars the power plug from the ballast actually has to be flipped around. Like it shows in the PDF (from a 2g eclipse) http://www.sharphid.com/installation/2gdsminstall.pdf

Yes, this is probably the case. Mine were that way too. GM has our plugs backwards from the standard (don't know why) so what I did on mine is swap the wires on the stock harness. If I was to go back to halogen it wouldn't matter (since halogen bulbs aren't polarity sensitive) but it also makes the HID kits work properly

PM sent

I get and recommend my friends to get their HIDs from ebay seller "supervtec," and to get the Super Slim kit. it's a very reliable digital kit.

To find the seller simply type into google "ebay seller supervtec"
Look for a super slim kit, buy it, send him a message with what kit you need, done!
