Well, I know its been awhile,
I promise things will be moving fast from now on,
I was planning on working on this throughout the winter, but i decided to
stretch the wallet, and try to get this thing back on the road.
I WANT IT DONE NOW. Its been on jacks since last christmas almost.
Yes, yes. I will be driving this 454 TA through the snow.
Im working on re-repainted the cage, (darkish grey, to match the current planned theme)
I had to bondo a little where i cut off the halo from the 10pt.
\
\
\
I also started working on grinding down all the welds in the bay, and using a body filler with some aluminum mixed in.
\
\
\
I dont really have a ETA on finish, ill have one when i find out when my engine can be done (ASAP).
Like i said, im gonna be working as much as i can after school.
And this is how she sits now.
Another update tomorrow, with finished cage pics, and hopefully most of the interior back in, and more bondo in the bay.

It's definitely fun taking it down to bare chassis. What's not fun is nothing being able to drive it for ten months

Todays update.
Damn this aluminum ******* bondo is tough
Its not anywhere near done, I got like 10 sq.in. perfectly smooth,
the rest needs some work. I just decided to throw a coat of high build on the whole thing.
Oh and a note... This is my first experience with body work of any kind.
I strayed away from it on purpose. until now...

maybe i missed it in reading your posts......but what was the reason you took out the "halo and front down bars" that go thru the dash? i was just curious because i am going to be putting a 10 pt. in mine and was wondering if there is enough room to put the down bars in front of the dash instead of going thru it! Thanks!

1) Its a street car.
2) I decided that i would be happy with running 10.0 for now.
3) Im 6'5" and growing, and the halo was down at my ******* eyes.
Also looking out front, it ruined my view.
4) It ruined the t-tops, I use them everyday i can. (I love them) I could no longer hop in like a jackass.
5) I didn't wanna cut-up my dash.
Hope that helped.

Well, i got to do a few hours of work today, but really not a noticeable difference,
so i wont waste time posting pics. I learned a few things the hard way, so that
was just wasted time. I did get the passenger side shock mount a little smoother,
so i guess some progress was made. I didn't have any help today, apparently my
buddy luke has a life of his own to worry about... or something like that.
How selfish of him.
Anyway, just wanted to keep the updates going.
I hope to have some finished pics of my cage tomorrow,
if i can start early enough, i can get some interior back in.

Looking good man...I know its kinda a pain, but keep with it...i've been doing the same thing for the past couple of months...i work on it then put it a way for a couple of weeks...but seeing your progress makes me get out there and work on mine...Make sure to post more after you finish the bondo work, im almost to that point and gonna need some referances to go by...
I see your using the aluminum bondo filler....does that stuff work good...I bought some ppg filler from my local paint distributor, but not sure if i should use this or something like the aluminum filler or metal filler....Any suggestions

Thanks, Im really not the right guy to be asking, I have zero experience, other than what youve seen in my thread.
I really like the aluminum filler, but i really enjoy OVERdoing everything, so using this just makes me feel better. Ive always been scared of bondo, i dont trust it.
but to answer your question, i like it. It takes forever to sand, Im using 40,60, and 100 grit. 220 does absolutely nothing.
