My question is similar to above, How long will this stuff live in a daily driver in an area where it routinely tops 100 in the summer? What is the care of the material like?

That and how did you prep the surface for the application? Sanding?

I didnt sand or do anything. Just made sure that its clean. Once the glue dries it seems to be pretty stuck on there so I'm not worried about it coming off. As for the heat, honestly I don't know how well it'll hold up but I did see that someone who did something similar used 3M 80 glue and they said it worked well. Hopefully mine'll be the same. I've got another can of 3M adhesive (different type) that I used last year to try to mount my screen in the car and it held strong. In order to get it off this year I had to really sand it a lot; 3M makes tough stuff.

Do you mean a "French Seam"?

If so there is a thread on it. I will try to dig it up.

*Edit* Found it: French Seam

Good call, thanks man. Wanted to do that or my door handles.

I'm going to make a run to Micheals and see what my local one has.

If you guys are worried about the leather holding up just buy Steve's kit from Specialized Stainless. It's UV resistant & I believe also mildew resistant. Kinda like Marine grade leather for boat upholstery so it's made to take abuse, sunlight & water.

I bought the kit 2yrs ago when it first came out & I'm ashamed to say my lazy *** is just now getting around to installing it. I'm gonna start this week probably. I just had a couple other interior projects to wrap up that I dragged out ALOT longer than I should have due to winter & no garage.

let us know how it comes out I'm thinking of getting the same kit. I ordered a sample to see if it matches our stock int or not cause i don't want to do the whole car i just want to do the dash pad and a few other parts.

Here's my interior currently. One thing leads to another and when one piece is out its easier to do another mod as well. I've fell victim to the mod addiction.

SILVER GAUGES

The center console is basically done. Here is a pic of half done, this side was easy

The other side is tricky of course because of the cigarette lighter swooping area. I did glued small sections at a time, and the glue actually makes the vinyl stretcher. Then clamped until dry and then the next section. It worked out pretty well and I plan on doing the gauge surround and the dash in a similar way.

and here's the almost final product, I have to finish the rear cupholder, do some trimming and I'm waiting on redline shift and e-brake boots

Comments suggestions always welcome

Awesome man! You said you cut it in pieces, it looks like one whole piece, how did you do that?

Its actually two pieces one on each side. one seam/joint is in the front and hides under the dash when installed, and the other is in between the cupholders but I'll probably put a little trim or something there to cover it.
