Closest I make are these...

Anything else you'd either have to put in a LOT of work yourself like he did or pay someone a LOT of money to do the work you don't want to do

2 RX8 clusters, used the needles

The tach needle is just ever so slightly hiting the overlay. But over all I think its nice.

Now I need the LED conversion...
looks great!

Make one for me....just kidding.....unless you really want to

I was just looking in this section and found my old post....

Yeah, I went to LED in the cluster.

No joke I spent a few Franklins...I bought 2 RX8 clusters and a C5 cluster. My original plan was to use the needles and the black light leds from RX8. They have these cool "pockets" where the LED sits in. I also have a couple TA clusters to mod, so my best one was without the black lights. Keep in mind the RX8 cluster only has 4 needles so you need 2 clusters. I found them for cheap on ebay back then. The c5 was used for the bezel. In the end this mod was worth it to me since its in your face when you drive...

I thought that the needles needed to be weight specific?

I remember Mark writing a post about how they had to be a certain weight or they would not read correctly...

I suppose you know or knew that 6LE makes both gauge bezels and needles...but you likely already know since you got your overlay there....

I thought of that. I removed the weights from the original needles and glued them on the RX8 needles. At the time I bought all the stuff I didn't know 6le had them. Besides, my original plan was to use th C5 overlay since I wanted the speedo to read 200mph BUT the overlay on the C5 isn't transparent. SO after looking at the C5 closer, they used a black light setup. This is why I needed the RX8 cluster for the black LEDs. HOWEVER after seeing I couldn't even use the C5 needles, lets say I was pissed... They were too small. So that TA cluster idea was scrap since I modded it to fit the the black light pockets. So this is where I went with the 6le overlay, modded the C5 bezel to fit the TA cluster and used the RX8 needles with LEDS. Now I may mod my stock LT1 overlay with the Rx8 needles and buy the blue needles for the LS TA. I will say getting a factory clean look was the goal. The cluster to me is something as important as any visual mod. We look at it many times and its the first thing you look at as you turn the key....lastly that cluster with the black light was going to be a bad mother!!

After spending over a year on the needles, We've determined that the weight isn't the issue we once thought it was because the motors themselves that move the needles are actually pretty powerful. The only thing that might slightly be off might be where the needles rest when the car is off (as in if they lay all the way down or hover slightly above the needles stop). Our gauge calibrator for the 200 mph clusters has backed us on this after a few tests.

Other than that, the needles seem to be working out well with no problems. I might be showing a new design we tried with needles and see what you guys might think....maybe.

Oops, sorry for the OP. And your cluster really shows the hard work put into it!

You have to chop up both a C5 and LS1 bezel. It took about 8hrs of setting/cutting...BTW those update pics were taken today, so its held up like day one.

Thinking about the LT1 cluster now that its all stock.
