Default Window Tint - how dark?

I'm in the process of removing the window tint that's been on the car since I've owned it in 2001. The rear began to purple and bubble up.

I believe it has 25% tint all around right now, but I want to go darker on the rear hatch. Should I go 35% or darker? I've considered 5%, but I want to see out the back at night. Do companies offer anything between? How much does it cost to have this done?

Depends on where you go. Ive been quoted 325 for a strip and retint with 5%. Personally, I wouldnt even tint the windows with something lighter than 20%.

State law is 25% on the sides, but anything you want on the rear. Oh and I meant to say "25% or darker."

With 5% you will not see well at night period. Get something along the lines of 15-18% on the sides and if you want, then get 5% on the rear. But let it be known that you won't be able to see well at night you'll need to put your windows down and look back.

Screw that. I don't see well at night anyways. I'll probably do 25% on the sides and 15% on the hatch.

I need to get my truck done too, but it has a lot of little scratches on the side windows. Will it look like crap with tint?

I got 20 all around. If he would have had darker that I would have gotten darker. The law n ohio is 50 on the sides but I haven't had a problem yet. Knock on wood. If I could I would do 5 on the back and at least 15 on the sides. No lighter. Dark tint is amazing

I've got 20 in the rear, it works great at night, I had 35 on the sides but it started to mess up, I might end up going with 20 though!

If your car is black I'd go dark as you can stand, if not 20% is a good all around tint. Far as price I'd shop around your area and talk to some local guys and see if they know somebody that does it for a living but willing to do it on the side. You'll get the same quality for half the price.

I have 20% all around, not very dark, but dark enough that people can't see me just by taking a glance. Also, light enough that cops haven't messed with me about it. I had 5% for a couple weeks but got a ticket. The law is 32% here though, if it was 25% I would have went darker.
