Default Post up pics of your painted engine bays!

We've got an appearance thread for about everything else, including best looking engine bays, but not one specifically for those who have pulled the motor (Or left it in) and had the engine bay sprayed. I recently pulled the engine out of my 02 and am having the bay sprayed the same color as the car, should look sharp! I think painting the engine bay is one of the most noticeable things you can do to spice up the appearance of the engine bay, it makes such a difference over the look of the shitty factory look!

I'll post pics of mine after it gets painted here in the next few weeks!

Well I did mine last year with the engine in (darn LT1's last forever!). The paint was so degraded, when I prepped it with Isopropyl Alcohol it took the paint down to the primer. Awesome primer on the car BTW.

Sanded, scotch-brite, taped off some, then grabbed whatever Duplicolor touch up spray looked closest, something like "Hot Rod Red" and used Engine clear from a rattle can that gave a much better gloss finish than regular clear and that was it.
I'm still on my original Alternator at over 160K, sure wish I would have done headers though, I don't think those suckers are gonna wanna come off?

orignally sprayed with the motor int he car (completely doable). blew my motor last summer and pulled it, so i spray it again to get everything real good. its done with single stage sbering silver, hvlp gun. just make sure you tape the entire car off and mask everything. overspray WILL find its way to paint if its exposed and claybarring that is a pain. soon im gonnag et around to wetsanding the orange peel out and buffing it to a smooth finish.

tons of people have, those are the easiest ones to do bc you can just spray satin black from a rattle can and itll look the same as it would with an HVLP gun if you do it right. BUT with satin black, youre doing a color change, and that would almost require you to pull the motor so ALL spots are hit with paint. with a simple base/clear of your facotory color, you can get away with missing some spots. with a color change like the satin black, you gotta hit it all for it to look good!

Maybe some guys will post up pics of it. I am trying to decide whether or not to do it in satin black or do it the color of the car... I haven't seen too many satin black bays

I did mine myself, didn't have the $$ to send it to a shop.... came out okay for my first time with a rattle can. Here are the only pics that I have, car was dirty.
