Default Hurst Cue ball shift ****

Ok... So I got a white cue ball shift **** for the stock (for now) shifter. No matter how I put it on it is upside down with R/5/6 on the left... Do I need to put it on without the "jam nut" or what? Cuz it is irritating that something simple is being difficult. lol

Umm...I don't think you understand the concept of the jambnut. What you do is, screw the **** on (with the jambnut already on, and screwed all the way down) until you can't turn it anymore. Once it's tight, it will (and appearently this is the case) probably not be aligned correctly. Unscrew it until the shiftgate lines up the way you want it to. Hold it in place and back the jambnut off until it's tight up against the shift ****. Tighten it down and voila. You're done.

Yeah the nut confused me. Tightened it all the way on. Then it was upside down. So then I just use a wrench to turn the jam nut back until it's positioned right. Then I got confused by your post. Sounded like I bring the jam nut back down to the bottom of the threads and done? What prevents the **** from moving again?

Once the **** is where you want it, you turn the jambnut so that it moves up the stick, towards the ****. It will tighten up against the **** and hold it in place. It's kind of hard to explain, but hopefully you understand what I'm trying to describe.

So get the nut to the bottom, thread on the **** to where it looks good, then loosen up the nut so it goes up in to the **** as far as the wrench will allow. Sound about right?

Exactly, the jam nut "jams it" in place

I don't have a short stick but wish I did. Since I can't afford a short shifter right now. lol So I don't need to mess with the actual shifter do I? Just the ****?
