Default Show Covers

I wanted to ask all of you what you think about having polished covers in your engine bay for shows.. Not like covering the whole engine, but covering the ugly parts like the battery and stuff like that.. Pretty much like the items that specialized stainless sells.. If you wanted to enter your car in car shows do you think the judge would like it better with out without these covers? My friend and I were arguing about it and he says that judges wanna see everything because if you cover it up they will think you are trying to hide something.. Where I say cover up all the ugly **** and it makes the engine bay look 100x better... And from what I have seen most winning show cars have the covers, where he thinks they dont..

Will you all please vote and give a reason for your choice?

Like everything else...done with taste they look great and add nice detail to the bay. I dont like covers that are just there to be there though...like ABS block covers and a few others out there.

Very simple, when I didn't have them it didn't show as well, since I've added them I've gotten some awards. It's one piece of the puzzle, adding custom FRC's, painted lid and just really having a spotless engine bay helps of course.

Judges look at everything done to the car. They want to see you spent the time and put the effort in. IMO the only reason you wouldn't want covers in the engine bay is if you are in a stock class. I'm not saying cover every empty area with a cover. Make sure it stays tastfull like said above and you'll be good. Or just look at what's winning the shows in your area...

If you decide you want some covers, make sure you take advantage of our current sale!

i think if it flows well it's all good. take my car for example, look at my brake res here:

ugly as hell.

now look at with the cover i made

some stuff just doesn't look right imo though. take this for example, i won't name the sponsor but this just looks horrible in my opinion, maybe because nothing else is polished and he just has this mirror on the top i dunno

I love covers done tastefully, but I had to break the vote up some, lol. I'll probably end up going with covers, but for now I have a CLEAN stock engine bay. Judges will appreciate stock if it is new looking, but if you have a modified car, you need a modified engine bay IMO.

Hey fellas,

My item on my car is not a show car. Not judged fairly against the others shown on this thread, Figured I should show you some real covers. That are on Show cars. These are not "ugly", to borrow a quote from above.
Also some of the cars in this thread have some of our items on them. You will not find any better GM logo parts for under hood period!!

Custom battery cover:

Intake plaque - etched stainless steel with GM logo or whatever you'd like:

Radiator Shroud Cover

Fuse Cover

Brake Fluid Reservoir Cover

[QUOTE=Mssingkid;11232011]

Mirror Stainless Cylinder Head Plates with Chrome plated button-head bolts (allen-keyed):

Mirror Stainless Cylinder Head plate w/ 4 Chromed bolts, and you choice of Firebird, Camaro, or Corvette logo etched:

Here is a 35th Anniversary Camaro battery cover we made the other day:

Battery Covers - Sold 2 of the exact same kind

Mirror Stainless etched accumulator cap, pretty enough I hope!

We have many more items not pictured: Shrouds, fusebox covers, Brake covers. and Billet parts soon to be released, but I am making more of these tonight to ship out tomorrow, If you want more pictures let me know. I already know you do not want to see them on my car.

I have thought about that... Are they easy to get to to check fuses? Is there a writeup somewhere?

you have to go under the car, open the door that leads to the foglights and check them there. air pump must be removed. take the fuse boxes out of the tray, remove the tray, and cram each one through the hole underneath.

Keep it as simple as possible. Only cover up the things that are really begging to be covered (ie. PCM).

The rest (for the most part) you can polish, paint, relocate, or chrome if you're Robbie

sorry to but does any one know who makes covers for the gap between the headlight and core support and the gap between the air lid and front bumper on a 01 camaro Z28? i think when those empty spots are covered it looks so much cleaner.
