One thing I did was remove all the heat shields underneath the car. I also removed the front sway bar and all the brackets for it.

heat shields would be good, i do want to wire wheel and repaint a few rust spots. i still drive it daily so i have to keep that in mind. i was wondering about no matting and go with like a undercoating for the interior.

You can remove the stock carpet and replace it with lightweight aftermarket carpeting. Undercoating is heavy. If you like the low-rise Formula/V6 hatches then you can switch to one of those. They are lighter than the high-rise spoiler hatches, and a lot of people either give them away or sell them cheap.

front and rear bumper supports..

I would keep all the heat shield on underneath the car.. They're there for a reason.. Plus all 5 of them prolly have a combined weight off less than 7 lbs?

It's his DD... Would you take out the only thing keeping someone elses car from shoving your cars engine into your lap?

I removed my front impact bracket and foam on both camaros ive owned.

From accident picture my dad has shown me (Fire fighter) if the impact is great enough to push the engine in the car, your pretty much gonna be fucked regardless if the bar was there or not.
