Default WHAT is this???

Just washed my rims and noticed this....see 2nd pic

First pic is a new not driven on rim, second is on one driven 4 times..

Front barrel, (not driven on)

Rear barrel, (driven on 4 times) spots are raised, I can feel them
I've had MANY sets of rims with chrome inners and NEVER saw this before... Any ideas?

Looks like some kind of compression created from a weak spot in the metal. Are they still under warranty?

Under warranty..

Seems like its pitting..

No metal shavings..

This is not on my other sets of rims I drive on..

On the corvetteforum, they're sayin its poor prep causing the pitting..

Could be corrosion from the brake pad dust. Dissimilar metals and water will lead to that real quick.

Rims are wiped down after use and dried thoroughly, with a leaf blower and microfiber towels..

Never driven in the rain.
Just to and from the track, changed, mounted for street use again.

The dent or just the spots? Could be a petroleum based tireshine splashing, brake dust, or bad prep-work.

That's what the inside of my rim looks like also. I have Chrome TTM's. The inner barrel portion isn't chromed though, but I thought I would clean it up for show. I was dissapointed with these imperfections.

This happened to a my g/f's sister on her rims they sat in the garage all winter lawn, and never got to see the road. She pulled them out and they looked exactly like that. They said it was poor craftsmanship and the place is replacing them.
