Default 2000 T/A Front Seat Plastic Back Removal

I need to remove the hard plastic that on the back of our front seats ( I am talking about the entire piece that is screwed on to the rear.

Researched this site and others, and cannot locate on how and where the actual screws are for it.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

2 on the top, 2 on the bottom and one on each side under the little button looking cover. you need to take a small screwdriver and pry off the buttons to expose the screws. this info is from a 95 but it should be the same for a 2000. here's a few pics of my seat during reupholstery. the bottom 2 screws take a minute to find but they are in roughly the same position as the upper 2 screws. you just need to feel around down there for them.

the last pic shows a closeup with the back panel removed and there are 4 screws on the back for the panel with the net on it plus 2 screws on each side that hold the accordian bolster sides on.

I do too

I would have liked having that plastic back too, having that net could come useful.

That's weird, I thought all T/A's came with the 10 ways standard. My Formula was ordered with the 8 way leathers and I picked up a set of the 10 ways for dirt cheap that I put in there. I could have swore that the 10 ways were part of the T/A package. Seats, STD T Tops, and Bumper/Ground Effects/Spoiler.

i think on the LT1 cars if you ordered leather you got them, even on the firebirds and formulas, but on the LS1 cars they were optional. I think all T/A's had leather standard and then the optional AQ9 seats with the bolster/lumbar were an option. I would say it was a WS6 thing but i know someone with a non WS6 02 that has them and i'm pretty sure i've seen WS6's that didn't have them.

I just got done replacing the headrests....Never ended up removing the back...Just wrestled the covers off to apply the new ones...ended up tearing one just a little bit. Good thing once the cover is down, you cannot se the small tear since its on the inside..
whew ! good thing :-)

I stopped when on my first attempt I could not get the small round screw cover off...

And not wanting to mangle the darn thing I just removed off my old headrest covers and put the new ones on. I am glad that one the headrest is down, you can't see the tear at all.

Oh..and check this out, GM no longer manufactures head rest covers for 98-02 years.. Not sure who will pick up the licensing (if you want) OEM style that is. Otherwise, its junkyard or Ebay.

those little caps aren't that hard to get off. i used a flathead screwdriver from one of those precision tool kits which i had from when i used to repair laptops.

hawks probably sells headrest covers for the 98-02 cars. I know i got new ones for the my 95 in their 93-97 kit but i think they also sell them for 98-02.
