Looks good man. I like the subtle appearance mods. You know that something is different and it looks good, but you're not sure what it is until someone tells you.

I would shell the cash for the actual rings. Cheap and look much better I tried painting mine spent an hour masking them all off then painted them.
Looked like crap. I hated it you could tell it was paint see the paint lines that didnt match up. just looked out of place.
I mean its a good idea, but I think the chrome rings look much better.

ive seen the chrome vent rings and i didnt really like them. seems like they stood out too much. i put a couple light coats on those and let the paint dry properly, and didnt have any spotting or cracks. but i had a firebird and i did the same thing in that, so i already had alittle bit of practice the 2nd time around.

I think it looks really good, and it's always nice to be able to do for yourself.
I have the chrome vent rings and they are starting to show their age after the years using the A/C. The slight condensation is starting to get them dull with minor discolorations, as they are chromed steel.
I have actually considered painting another set I have silver as well. I think I would do the center rib also.

turned out great, its cheaper for sure and looks cool... but still can not compete with the looks of the chrome rings I make for the vents... to my humble opinion.
Have them in for 3 years now... they have not lost their bling for a second! if you polish them once a year or so they wil look even better!

To be honest, I have had my chrome rings since 2007 and have never given them any TLC. With the A/C on they do condensate a bit, being metal. I'll try hitting them with some chrome polish to clean them up a bit.
I think this is a nice way to go as well...
