Default ultra z hood

so i have a bright rally red z28 i currently have an ss spoiler on it, i am getting chrome c6z wheels at the end of this month, and i do not know which hood to get for my car, i hear alot of people saying its wrong to put an ss hood on a z28 but i love the way they look, the ultra z hood is ok, i think it looks like should belong on an lt1 ws6 but, maybe thats just me. so can you guys help me decide because i have no idea lol.

here are 2 pics to help compare:

since its a Z28 i would probably get the ultra Z instead of the SS hood. the sunoco hood looks good too. but i think a 3" SS hood is flat out sick!

There really is no problem with putting an SS hood on a Z28. It's the people that then proceed to put the badges on their car as well.

It comes down to what hood you like best. Very few people have the Ultra-Z, so that might be worth getting. It looks pretty hot on that red Camaro up there.

i was in your position a couple of months ago. i went with the ss hood because i found a great deal but the ultra z is more unique in my opinion. i probably would have gotten the ultra z if i had found a deal on one at the time. VFN is good too but i've never really been a fan of just a cowl, i like scoops but thats just me.

it seems like you've already answered your question though, you said you really want an ss but are contemplating the ultra z just because you have a z28. get the hood you want, its your car. i put an ss hood and ss spoiler on my z, but i'm still badged as a z28. i just like the styling better and the lines flow great, still love the z28 name though

Agreed... seems like people don't complain when better badges are thrown on '60s and '70s cars, but you get to the new ones and everyone thinks it a sin to upgrade.

I would go with the Ultra-Z for the fact that it looks great and is unique.

I just thought it was funny that someone with corvette wheels on a t/a would hate on putting ss emblems on a z28

i'm puttin z06 rims on my camaro but i'm not callin it a vette . . . they were been puttin that symbol the muscle cars of chevy in the 60's so i figure it's ok if it's on my center caps on my camaro. but i don't mind seein someone put a SS hood on a Z28 but when they start badging it as a SS when it's not just makes me pissed because in my mind, i'm wondering why they couldn't just buy a SS in the first place in stead of making a clone

you make a very valid point.

why do you put aftermarket parts on your car when you could have just bought a faster car?
