You could **** up by sanding through the clear coat on trouble spots.... Be careful around edges thats a sure way to burn through the clear coat.

WOW, askin this & alreay started the sanding. Maybe you should have done a little more reading first & this question wouldnt have been asked.

Like stated be careful & dont get over excited cause its real easy to trash a good clear coat by tryin to wet sand it & not doin it properly.

My thoughts exactly....ask for advice after the fact? So why were you wetsanding to begin with?? To remove orange peel or really bad scratches?

Yea, just be really careful. Wet sanding is like a art almost. It takes practice & is easliy messed up with even just a tiny bit too much pressure.

Is this on the factory paint? I've been wondering how thick the clear coat is, how much it will tolerate.

It's not very thick at all. If you ever get peeling or fading of it like on my car you realize real quick the general cheaped out on our paint.

Heck I'm scared enough to try and wetsand the clear I put on my VHTed tails because I'm afraid I'll screw them up. I can't imagine taking sandpaper to my paint, regardless of how bad of shape it is in right now

Here's my crappy DD after I bought it and started to wetsand it two summers ago. I think Maaco painted it as I found out it was in at least one accident. I know this is no show car but I just wanted to paint to look better so I thought I'd start working on it back then. It turned out pretty good and about 90% better then when I bought it.

When I got it...

After wetsanding

This shows what it looked like after I started to buff it with the P&C.

This is what the same area looks like today. I need to go back over the whole thing now to remove more scratches with the M105 and finish the bottom part under the trim. I never finished it
