Because something is rare that doesn't make it better looking or not. Perhaps if it was so good looking, they wouldn't stop making that body style in 97
To me this debate is like "what's your favorite beer ..." and the answer is "whichever you have in hand" ..

Here's my .02.
I own an LT1 SS, but I still think ls1's look nicer. Obviously lt1 owners are going to say lt1's look better and ls1 owners will say ls1's look better. The thing is, a lot of guys are compensating for what they have. Of course if you can't afford an ls1, your going to say the lt1 is nicer looking, and the motor is better. It's all a compensation to yourself that what you have isn't nice looking or the motor is junk.
I think LT1's with proper cosmetic enhancements can look just as good as ls1's with proper cosmetic enhancements. I mean they are 80% exactly the same.
Given 2 cars, with exactly the same appearance mods, I don;t think there could be a clear cut winner. Both have strengths and weaknesses. However, stock vs stock, You have to go with the LS1. Every option of stock rim, is hands down nicer in every facet than the stock, lt1 salad shooters. Period. There is no arguing that. Again, any argument on that is simply a compensation for what you have or don't have.
The headlights are better looking, the hood isn't just a flat sheet (for z28 and v6 models). There is just more time and styling in the ls1 cars.
I think the answer is clear cut, but that's just me. I love my car to death, and honestly, I think it's probably in the top 10 of the lt1 appearance bracket. But I would still take an ls1 over it any day.
