i had mine all bent and stripped the top where you tighten it down. i have to use vise grips on mine now. my pass side came off pretty easy, drivers side was a different story, just keep workin it and you will get it.

FWIW, I tried a wiper arm removal tool once and it didn't even fit the wiper arms on my car. What worked for me is to flip up the cover, remove the nut, and then hold the wiper arm right at the hinge and rock up and down.

I'm in the boat you are in. I'll try it and trust me, if i can do it you certainly can!

OK, group effort needed here.
There are two nuts that I see on the passenger's side. So I basically take them off and pull like crazy?
Also, I don't see the nut(s) for the driver's side. Help!!!

Are you talking about hex nuts or push in fasteners? Each windshield wiper is held on by a hex nut, it is under the black plastic cover at the base of the wiper arm. Gently pry the cover up to expose the nut.

As for push in fasteners, I believe there are eight of them holding the cowl on. The first step is to get the wipers off, then remove the hood seal which runs the length of the cowl. It is held in by smaller push in fasteners, about ten of them. After you have the seal off remove the fasteners holding the cowl on. Use a small slotted screwdriver and work from one side to the other making sure you don't miss any. Some are right at the base of the windshield, some are down lower closer to the engine bay. The cowl is two pieces. At the outside edge of each piece the cowl slides onto a piece along the side of the windshield, so you need to slide it forward to get it off. And before lifting it off the car you will need to disconnect the windshield sprayer nozzles. Easiest way I found was to unplug the hose, then remove the nozzle itself after the cowl is off the car.

All this is based on my car, so later years and/or Camaros may be slightly different, but should be pretty similar.

I am talking about the hex nuts. I have all but one of the fasteners off right now and the weather strip thing as well. So I assume I remove these nuts and then it comes right off with a bit of prying?

I cant find the hex nut on the drivers side

Wait a second.... You have to remove the wipers before you remove the plastic piece?

the paint method is the best thing, i mean it took me all of 20mins to remove it, and it's permanent.

Ive been meaning to post but ls1tech is all screwed up. So basically I didn't know there are nuts right on top of the wiper arm! I didn't know that thing flipped up to expose the nuts! If I were to do this all again it would take 15 minutes. I just need to start working on getting the arms off.

I have the cowl off now and washed and letting it dry. I had to order from GM two new washer nozzles and a Drivers wiper arm cover. Be very careful, My wiper nozzles both broke just by moving the cowl so I could remove the nozzles. They must have been a bit brittle. Other than that it was pretty easy removal.

The cover was already broke had a crack where it pivots on the arm. Nothing major, just enough to bug me though

Here is a before shot after I removed the wiper arms and cowl weatherstrip.

and the after. Painted with the Fusion and clear coated. I need to install the new pushpins, original repainted wiper arms and cowl weatherstrip as well as the new washer nozzles when it all arrives Thursday.

I used Gloss Black then cleared it. I am not a big fan of flat paint. As soon as the sun comes out I will take a picture of it in the sun.

Nice job, yours looked even worse than mine did. I didn't clear coat mine, I'd be interested to see how that looks in good light.

seems like gloss would already be too much, but with clear coat on top of that, seems way to shiny. its not supposed to stand out, just blend. when/if i do paint it i'll most likely go satin, if anything else, flat.
