I know this is in an old thread, but I'm planning on doing an LS1-LT1 tail light swap and I have a couple of concerns... If you trim the sockets and decide to change back to newer model tails, will they still fit? And if you don't rewire it like in post #6, will the turn signals and brake lights still work?

Thanks

how about getting some VHT Niteshades red spray tint to spray the amber part red, that way almost looks like the LT1 lights and no wiring to mess with, just my .02

I've never looked at both styles but can you switch the housings out and reseal them like the whistler mod? Then their would be no trimming to fit

Here are my LT lights. I did the red Tamiya tint AND the right harness. I LOVE the way they came out.

^^^ you talking about whistler modding the tail lights? What would be the point?, the lens is where all the color is.

hes talking about sticking the lights in the oven to un-seal the lens like you do for the whistler mod then swapping the lenses. so you have an ls housing with an lt lens, which i think would work

ohhhhhh, I see. ya i think that would work. Never seen it before, But to be honest its really easy to just carve out bigger openings in the LT1 housings, took me like ten minutes with a knife to carve and test fit the holes.

No it won't work. You cannot separate the Camaro's tail housings. Not easily anyway. They are pretty well fused together and you'll crack the lens trying to get it off. I've tried. You can cut them open but by the time you do that and find a way to reseal them you might as well just trim the bulb holes. Far easier and faster.

Here's why we can't change the lenses on Camaros. I busted the lens trying to get it off. They are pretty well fused together. You can see how I was breaking the glued plastic to get as far as I did. Took a couple hours of prying to get this much done, but it still ended up splitting and cracking the lens towards the outside of the light.

I was doing this because I wanted to see if I could get the lenses off for doing something else, and decided to try on this bad tail light set, and, well... Yeah, I'm not trying on my good tails!

Default Mystery product.

Hey Guys!.... Cheers to all in 2016.

I bought a product (tail lights) online, with 4 ports for twist-lock light sockets (not advertised): My OEM tail lights have 2 sockets each. Anyone tried to get new tail lights and found this has happened?? Im tempted to just get 4 more and split the wiring,.... but, is that wise given the voltage?

Thanks,.... stay cool.

Did you have any problems with fiting the ls tails to the lt1?
