The ONLY tire shine I will ever put on my tires is this-

No greasy residue and not silicone based, ZERO sling too. I've been in detailing a few years now and I've tried a lot of different products and I must say that this is probably your best bet, however if you want that true wet look, I would keep using the Armor All stuff.

I use the Meguiars Gold Endurance purple gel stuff. No overspray to worry about, doesn't sling, last forever, it won't stain the lip of the wheel, and being applied with an applicator instead of being sprayed on makes it easier to control the amount of shine IMHO.
Typically I put one coat on, which makes the tire look clean and somewhat shiny, but not a real wet look. When I take the car to a show (maybe 2x a year) I put another layer or two on the car after it's parked, and you can almost see yourself in the tire.
