Where to buy HIDs ?
I know the cheapest place I seen around is the fleebay but I am trying to deal with someone else. I dont want to have to sign up with that web site and all that.
Anyone know where to get them for around $60 bucks just like that web place?
Thanks

Well, I've recommended hid king off "fleebay," but since you don't want to go that route, there are a few places...but they are going to be alittle more than $60! You can always try your local craigslist as I have found quite a bit of people on there (locally) that sell HID kits...for around the price your looking for.
Hope this helps

I'm also not a fan of buying things off of E-bay. DDM tuning has them and you can buy a set for about $70 and you get a life time warranty on them.
There was also a thread a while back about this that speed inc (sponsor on here) was selling. https://ls1tech.com/forums/stereo-el...speed-inc.html

Well, I have a 35w kit and logic states that 35w are gonna run cooler than a 55w kit. Regular halogens run at about 100w, so 35'rs are gonna draw less power than the 55w'rs.
I hope that I have made some form of sense here!

just remember you have to flip the headlight harness plug around whenever you plug them in.
so the headlight harness plug should be backwards of what the connector on the hid kit looks like when you plug them together
halogen headlights are not polarized so GM just kind of threw the headlight harness in there without checking current flow

Yet another one. Are all F-body drivers converting to these junk kits now? I'm going to have to start avoiding F-bodies at night just to be able to see the road.

yeah, you need to run these in a projector with good cutoff or **** can happen.
hids in stock halogen reflectors are pretty ghetto. they compliment chrome painted plastic spinner hubcaps though.
shouldn't you be more worried about bright LEDs in fbody taillights?

im not going to argue either way but they are a definite improvement over stock and are much better than just a bright halogen bulb

Hey thanks for your opinion on HIDs. Everyone has their opinions and if someone wants to do it, then let them. I wish we had a projector set up like all the new cars but nobody is even making a decent aftermarket headlight.
Maybe you can come up with a solution since you care so much. Maybe design a projector headlight for about the cost of factory replacements ?

Quit spouting off garbage from someone else's mouth that you on.. If you've never had a set, then you don't know.. You may have ran across someone that had some that were poorly aimed. Hell, there are stock housings out there that are poorly aimed that blind people more and for a longer period of time since no one thinks to check a stock bulb/housing..

some halogen projectors do a great job. they are designed for focusing lower powered light, but you can use the low output design to your benefit.
here's a shot of my hids in HALOGEN PROJECTORS (sorry if this gets your panties wound up). the camera is aimed a little to the left and its in a well lit garage against a discolored wall, but you can see the cutoff and how the intensity of light is focused. the light output is just what i wanted and actually lights up what i want it to. light is focused down the road and has a very gradual softening to the peripheral. i can see pedestrians walking dogs to the left and right and still see well down the road. night driving is no longer a problem. my main concern for switching to hid was to do as much as i could to resolve problems with overdriving my headlights.
