I don't have the set up yet but I want one and have done alot of research on them so here goes.....
After careful consideration I have decided NOT to blend the valance in. The ones I have seen look like a marshmallow out back. Remember also that you will have to smooth it out with some kind of body filler and after time it will crack. The line between the bumper and the valance actually give a classy look in my book.
That's just my 2 cents on it. Good luck.

Sommer's looks great BECAUSE our guy left a line that fades out.
One customer just used a body sealer so it looks like a hybrid and came out great.
The urethane valances take a lot more work and material to do them right (you need a lot of flex agents and stuff). The new flexible fiberglass type valances we sell are pretty easy. Most shops around here charge $100 if you're getting it painted there, $150 if not.

Thats why i didnt do mine when i was thinking of doing it a few years ago. I was afraid of it cracking and having to try and find another SLP valance somewhere which can go for more then the dam CME tips themselves and is even more rare to find by themselves!Actaully, both look good to me! You can't go wronge either way my man

Barnat, the valance itself wont crack (it's polyurethane). It's the blending agent that could crack (if it's the shitty bondo filler they use) if you go to a shitty shop..... Most want to take the easy way out and just fill it with bondo and be done with it.
From what i've heard from shops, NO ONE wants to do it becasue the bumpers abilty to flex. The secret is to find a place that uses a "flex-filler" and that way you dont have to worry too much about cracking....unless you're rearended or hit something.
My valance way actually attached to the bumper every 2-3 inches with rivets, then filled, then shaped, then primered. I couldn't have asked for a better job! I'm really very happy. Like i said, just ask around...and if a shop says bondo,......RUN!

mine was only $150 painted/blended iirc...done the same as Sommers, riveted every ~3" and filled, primed, sanded, repeat, paint. If they use a proper quantity of flex additive and good prep, it'll last as long as any of the other painted areas of your car.
but hey, different strokes. I like it, and that's all i care about
oh, and the shop actually wanted to blend it, the owner hated how it came out with just the 3M tape so he called me to the shop to look at it...i agreed and told him blend it
