LS1 to LT1 taillight/harness swap issue.
This is one of those times I wish I had the wiring diagrams handy...since I don't I'm guessing someone here will have the answer.
I'm swapping my LS1 tails/harness for a LT1 set up including the harness.
Everything is plugged in...everything works cept I don't have any brake lights.
I'm guessing either something needs to be added/spliced to the LT1 harness?
Thanks in advance!

Why did you go threw all that?Just open up the bulb sockets a tad where they need it with a rotor bit and a dremel .Takes like 10 minutes for both sides .That way if you ever decide to go back ,,,,you just swith out the tail light housings

LT1 harness uses the whole tail light as running light and the brake/turn signals. LS1 (actually 97-up) has just the outer part running lights and brakes, inner part turn signals (because of the amber instead of all red on pre-97 cars).
You can put pre-97 tails on a 97-up car, just trim the holes to let the sockets fit. Then you can add the wire to the inner socket for the running light. But the turn signal will still be inner part only, and brake outer part only.

Okay,
I've got all the wiring diagrams in hand...I'm off the next two days. I'll have this ironed out quickly, and will post the answer here.
As far as why I went through what I did...I didn't want to molest any of the tailight housings to retro fit anything.
It was a pretty simple job to swap out the harness, so I took that route..

Okay,
After alot of research and thinking things through...he's the skinny.
The LT1 harness does not have the baby blue wire for the brake lights. The brake light signal is pushed through the turn signal switch on the LT1 car. It would take alot of work rewiring the harness to make it fly, so I scrapped the idea. FYI, I would recommend you do not purchase the harness for the swap as it not needed.
So what I did was pretty much what everyone else has done...notched out the large hole for the 2 tail/turn bulb sockets on each LT1 tailight. ( The backup and marker light sockets fit perfect as is )
In order to get the entire tailight to light, I simply purchased 2 additional sockets from the parts store, gutted it for the weather pack connectors I needed, pulled the plug from the center of the LS1 harness and slid in the new wire.
Soldered and heatshrinked everything up....now it's all good!
