Default My Detailing Kit...

I quit my job last week, so I have some time to give my black 99 TA the cleaning it's needed since the day I bought it.

So I went to AutoZone and got some good products. Let me know if these will get the job done and if there's anything else I should add to the kit.

I'm gonna clean it with some Turtle Wax car wash first to get rid of the excess dirt and bugs. Then I have Clay Magic Perfect Finish clay system. I'm hoping this will get rid of the damn tree sap all over my car, and some of those scratches that came from nowhere.
Then I read somewhere that I should clean with Dish Detergent, Liquid Dawn...Should I?
After that my Trans Am should be ready for a deep waxing with Meguiar's Gold Class paste wax. I was gonna get Zainos Bros wax, but they didn't carry it.
Tires will be done with Meguiar's Endurance High Gloss and the wheels with a chrome cleaner.

I'll vacuum the interior next and wipe down all dash and trim with Meguiar's High Leather Wipes. Then the windows get treated with Invisible Glass by Stoner. I heard to use newspaper as the applicator to the glass. Is this true or a hoax? I bought some 100% cotton towels and washing pads to use.

I hope buying all these products and all this time and effort pay off. I've been pretty discouraged lately seeing how dirty my black car can get. I've got a long day of car scrubbing ahead of me tomorrow. But its much better than working for those bastards.

Later,
Bob

Sounds like a good assortment of products you have there.

The use of Dawn is one of the steps for the proper application of Zaino. You only need to do the Dawn wash if and only if you want to strip off any and all was off your car. A good car wash soap should be used otherwise.

I have heard of the newspaper for cleaning windows, but I don't do it - too massy the news paper self destructs when wet. Use a nice clean towel to clean and then use a clean dry towel to buff off any streeaks that may occur.

Have fun!

aino is only available through the internet/mail order. It is supposedly a great product.

Sounds good except the Endurance.. I hate that stuff.. its all gooey and gel like.. It may last a while but no thanks..

STP Son-of-a-gun is what I use for tires.. for other stuff (interior) I use mothers "The Protector".. its light, no greasy and dosent over shine the interior

If you have a lot of small swirls and scratches you might want to use a polish like 3M or something..

substitute the meguiars gold class paste wax with #7 show car glaze follow with #26 paste carnuba wax after five days wash car and give another coat of #26. clean daily with ca. car duster followed by meguiars quick detailer spray.believe me i have a black car and i was going crazy this system works! reapply a coat of #26 once a month-glaze every three months.i've never tried zano brothers so i can't compare-but i know its much more expensive. e mail me if you use my system i would be curious of what you think.

I have two suggestions, get the Turtle Bug & Tar ( in the spray bottle ) remover for all that crap on your car, I use a 100% cotton towel when using the remover and it works great. Next I would suggest getting the Zaino Perfect Tire Gloss, I'm not a fan of the Mop & Glow look so that's why I use the Zaino product. This stuff makes the tires look so nice I can't see using anything else, here's the Zaino web site just in case you don't have it. www.zainobros.com Because you have to mail in your order to Zaino with a check here's a place that you can call your order in for some Zaino using your credit card, Jay Harris 1-800-669-3540.

Well that clay bar seems like a waste of my time and money. It did not remove even one drop of sap, nor did it help with any scratches or swirl marks. Is there anything that will get rid of this sh**?

The Meguiar's wax shines up real nice. It's good enough for now till I buy the whole line of Zaino products.

Invisible Glass works well, but it's a pain in the *** with those newspapers. Plus I still have those sap drops everywhere, windows too. I hate trees!!! I wish I had a garage.

The Endurance tire gloss is cool. Those tires never looked better. But the dirt on these country roads sticks right to it.

That's all for now folks...

How should I apply Invisible Glass? I just got it and washed my car, waiting for the windows to totally dry. Is Invisible Glass good for the inside of the windows, will it leave a foam? What do you guys usually wipe it down with?

Very OLD post, but to answer your question, just spray the invisible glass on the window, then, I prefer using a microfiber towel to wipe off. Use on the inside and outside, just like any other window cleaner.

if you have tint don't use it on the inside reg window cleaner fades tint over time.

also the clay bar works good cleans all the dirt out of the pain i have used mothers and meguirs and love both of them you can really tell a diff.

to get sap off the windows spray down with window cleaner and then take a razor blade and scrap window clean

I put it on, inside and out last night and man, my glass is so much better. I had used windex before *I know I know* and it left mildew especially in the rear glass.

if a clay bar is used right, it'll take off sap, bug guts, overspray... pretty much anything ON the paint. it strips wax too, so you might as well wash it with dishwashing liquid afterwards.

i used a claybar on my old 91 camaro not long after it was painted, and the claybar turned burgundy from overspray. i use one about once a year on my LS1 to get the bug guts off the front end that nothing else will take off, and the tar off the fenders from all the gravel roads where i live. nothign beats it. you just have to keep the car good and SLICk (like soaking wet) with quick detailer or a mix of car wash soap and water in order to get the clay bar to slide correctly.
