Anyone Have 18 x 10.5 ZO6 Wheels on their Camaro?
Thinking of buying AFS chrome ZO6 wheels, 18 x 10.5 rear and 18 x 9.5 front. Tires will be 295s front and 305s rear. Anyone done this on a 99 z28? On a 99 Z28 Convertible?
How much banging on the wheel wells is necessary?
Any rubbing?

I have 18" x 9.5" up front and 18" x 10.5" in back on my 2000 SS Convertible. They fit fine. Althought I feel your tire selection will cause you problems.
A 295 is NOT recommended for a wheel less than 10" in width, also I feel you will rub on each turn of the wheel and even question if the tire will stick out enough to rub the spindle. I highly recommend a 275/35ZR18 for the front tire, or at least 285 as the max.
305's are going to be very hard to find in 18" diameters, and made by the same manufacturer as the fronts. I had a very hard time finding front and rear tires made by the same manufacturer. I went with Michelin Pilot Sports for my car. Also I think you will run into some aditional inner wheel well rubbing. I did have to perform the BFH mod to my wheel well since my 295/35ZR18 (stock Z06 tires) rubbed.
Pics can be found in my sig.

I have the same as Andy but with 275 tires up front and 285 tires out back.. I wouldnt go wider than 275.. besides with our cars oversteer it IS possible to go too big on the front

1. What is the BFH mod (rubber hammer and pound?)
2. Did you get the gran sport offsets (AFS)?

BFH - Big F'ing Hammer. After you have run the wheels and tires on your car you will see where the undercoat has been rubbed off. Beat those areas in with the hammer and reundercoat. May take a couple of tries.
When I bought my wheels they were only available with one set offset. The fronts are around 57mm and the rears are 58mm. If you can get Z06 style wheels with a 50mm offset, front and rear, that would be AWESOME!!!

I asked Steve2000SS for advice and went with the sizes that he reccomended. 18x9.5/275's on the front and 18x10.5/285's on the rear. It fit perfectly and so far no rubbing. My SS is at stock height for now though. You didn't mention if your car was dropped or not. Your choice of wheels is a good one but I'm not so sure about the tire sizes.

What did you guys do about your bumpstops? I get a headache everytime I have to jack up the back of the car. I was jacking it up by the 'pumpkin' but thought all of that concentrated pressure was a bad idea. Lately, I have been jacking the car up at the LCA mounts and then sitting the car on jack stands. Is either one of those bad? I don't have a problem bottoming out but it has happened a few times so getting rid of them completely might be a bad idea. Any suggestions?

I felt there was no need to modify them, granted, the axle cannot hang free with the tires on, but jacking the car up by the pumpkin is normal practice, heck if the axle can't hold the car up it would explode under all the torque pressures put on it!

Re: Anyone Have 18 x 10.5 ZO6 Wheels on their Camaro?
I'm running the same size rims and tires as Andy (mine are not chrome though). I did massage the inner wheel well, and am running 1/4" spacers (only for looks). I also put on longer studs so the thread engagement would be the same as stock with the spacers. ZO6 rims are worth the extra work, they look awesome on F-bodies!!! There are pics in my sig if you like. Good luck with your ride!!!

Re: Anyone Have 18 x 10.5 ZO6 Wheels on their Camaro?
I thought spacers were dangerous. Do longer wheel studs counter that? If you look at the physics part of it, even 1/4 inch spacers probably increased the torque on the studs about 25%. I would love to kick the wheels out a 1/2inch. I hate the way the front wheels are tucked inside the wheelwell. It makes them look like skinnys and they are almost a ten-inch rim! It really took away from the aggressive stance the SS had when I bought it. Looks great from the side though.
Where did you buy the wheel studs and spacers? How much were they and how much of a PITA were they? Could I safely do 1/2inch? I am thinking about selling these rims because of this problem. This might cure it.
Anybody know how much more the Fbody rim sticks out vs. the Corvette? I know the offset is 58mm vs. 50mm. Whats that equate to?

Re: Anyone Have 18 x 10.5 ZO6 Wheels on their Camaro?
SStolen, I have spacers in the rear of my car only!!! My front tires fit the same as my OEM 17" ten spokes did. My ZO6 front rims (18x9.5) have a 56mm offset, which is the same as the 10 spokes. My rear rims are 18x10.5 with a 58mm offset (again, the stock rims are 56mm all around). The 2mm difference is taken up by the width of the rim, therefore they sit about 1/8" closer to the wheel wells than the OEM rims did. IMO, they needed to be closer to the edge of the car. This is why I went with spacers. I had 1/8" spacers on the car first, but I wanted it more aggressive looking still. With the 1/4" inch spacers I had about 6 full turns on the stock studs, I've been told 7+ is better. Perhaps the wheel studs were overkill, but all the stuff I do to this car is not necassary!!! Anyway just wanted to share my experiences with all of you. Good luck with your cars!!! Pics are in my sig!!!

I've been thinking about doing the ZO6's also, wouldn't going 18x9.5 in the rear (Aftermarket) solve a lot of problems?

Re: Anyone Have 18 x 10.5 ZO6 Wheels on their Camaro?
Do they make the ZO6 rims with an fbody offset now? If not, then why do my front 18x9.5 ZO6's sit so far inside the wheel well? I HATE the way it looks! So are you saying that spacers up front would be a bad thing? Figures. I guess I'll be selling them afterall. Too bad, this would have been a great solution. Anyone wanna buy a set of flawless ZO6 rims? Only 2500 miles on them... seriously.

Put the 18 x 10.5 285's on my rear. I did cut and grind the bump stops to keep them from rubbing when jacking the car, and if I can do it anyone can. Originally I wanted to go with 295's, but am now glad I settled on the 285's.

18/10.5 on SS Camaro
wow I have a 2002 SS Camaro with 18/10.5 rear 18/9.5 Z06 wheels on the back I'm running275/35/18 front 315/30/18 rear BFG's and have been doing so for the past 6 years. yes I have 1/4" spacers with longer studs for the rear but have never had any clearance issues or rear axel issues. Also my car is lowerd 2". Dnt recall having any problems what so ever. Just love having a meaty tire on the rear.
