Default Anyone using an aftermarket steering wheel?

I would like to take the stock steering wheel out of the SS and put in one of the sparco's that I have been looking at but dont know if this can be done. I have heard it requires using a special hub to mount the wheel but all the hubs I have seen are for importcars. Has anyone tried this and made it work? Please fill me in!

Here's my Momo.

Bought it from Thunder Racing, and for like a few dollars more they machined the hub. Then it was "plug, and play" as soon as it hit my door.

I'm not hard core, so could someone explain why one would swap an airbag equipped steering wheel for an aftermarket wheel? Is it weight? Feel? Style? Anti-airbag?

PaiN, you have a really sweet car! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

I watch your dyno pull video "Unlocked/Locked" once a week and never get tired of it.
<img border="0" alt="[hail]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

That has to be the best dyno clip I have ever seen. I have seen some of your 1/4 mile runs to...AWESOME!

Very sweet car.

Oh yea, almost forgot, the steering wheel looks great to. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Maybe some day I will get to the track, looks like fun. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Todd.

I am always good for changing the subject on posts, sorry Brice (SP), we still need to get together and check out your SS. I think I am done for this year...storage time for me. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

Here's a pic of mine, it came with the hub. It's a Billet Specialties Steering Wheel.

That Momo looks bad ***! I went to Thunder Racing to order one but I couldn't find it. Is there another place to purchase these or are they a special order?

DANGER!!!

Check with your local and state laws prior to replacing your steering wheel. In some states (MINE is one) removing either the primary restraint system or any SIR system not so equipped for diabling at time of purchase renders the car illegal to run on the street.

I'm pretty sure se told me they could get any style of Momo I wanted. I just went out on the web, and found the style I liked, then called them, and they fixed me right up.

Todd,

Thanks man! It's a little more hardcore than the average members car... but it's unique (sp?). Me and my dad (Timewarp) get a bug about making something and just do it...some times it ends up in the trash...sometimes it turn out pretty good.

I'll be posting some pics in a few days of what we are working on now...its looking pretty good so far. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
