Unless you know this guy Steve I'd have a problem of him using a picture of your car, the seller seems to have maybe a little above average negative remarks about him. Just my .02 cents worth.

I agree. He's using your car to profit without permission.

Maybe Steve has given his permission to use the photo but if not I would contact this person and tell him to stop using the photo.

Why does he need a picture of a car to sell this product??? Steve he is using your visual reputation. I would not let him do that. By default if something goes wrong wioht the deal people are going to remember the car, not his name and blame YOU for the bad deal. I'd act ASAP!

I understand what you guys are saying. I wouldn't want that guy using my picture either. But when you put pics up on the internet for whatever reason. DO you waive the right for someone esle to use it without permission? Just wondering.

Your question is a good one, but I feel similar to using a photo of your face without a waiver is a no-no, I feel using a picture of your property without permision is a no-no, would it stand up in court?? Doubt it.

I sent him a nice email asking him to not use my pic in the future.. we will see..

Im sure its a "public domain" thing and that since i posted it in public I have no "expected right to privacy".. Now if he was saying my car had this mod.. or missrepresenting it somehow I could probley do something.. but he just shows a pic of it..

Its a compliment but also troublesome.. I should check his other auctions to see if its there too.. At least he is selling a valid mod at a reasonable price.. not a TB Bypass for $30 or a Tornado air kit.. lol

Oh, and guy is with a (small) performance shop.. http://www.gofastperformance.com/ At least that is where the pic is hosted from.. Welcome to the 21st century huh?

That guy is actually a sleezeball ! I checked his feedback and its pretty sad. Not to mention the fact that it does get annoying to look at his auctions everytime you search for ls1. "I mean come on, the guy puts like 20 consecutive listings in a row ! ? Its annoying to have to look at them. And on a final note, I noticed he stole the picture off of one of our sponsors and from a guy who posted his pics of his car on www.cardomain.com

I don't feel sorry for any of those idiots who got ripped off on E-bay. All those negative feedbacks make it clear what you are getting.

Copyright issues re. internet data.

It is legal to download pictures and data for personal use. If he wanted to use your car as desktop wallpaper, he is well within his rights. However, just as you cannot put a person on TV who has not signed a release, or post a picture that did not originate from you in a newspaper, he is breaking copyright laws by posting your picture in his ads for commercial purposes. You now have a case against both the seller, and eBay. I would pursue eBay, and they will in turn pursue the seller. Just as an ISP cannot hold images of child pornography, a hosting service is responsible for its content.

Your car is a very distinctive, beautiful machine that took a lot of work and time. Do you REALLY want it to be used to rip off less experienced gearheads?

Here is what I sent him:

"Hello,

My name is Steven and Im the owner of the SS you have pictured in your ad (the perwter one).. while its a nice compliment that you chose my car to picture I would request that you remove the image from you adds. I have gotten several emails from people who recognized the car thinking it was my add. If the pic is not removed from the auction I will take it up with EBAY and post feedback accordingly. Im sure you understand

Thanks"

We will see tomorrow.. This guy has hundreds of auctions going.. most selling "free" mods.. lol

I love the $9 "chip" that will give you 10hp
