Default Drag Wheels, Big 'n Littles: which ones?

I'm looking at DragLites, ProStars, Convo Pros, etc. for big 'n littles. Anyone have any suggestions? What's the widest I can fit? What backspacing will I need? Anyone know some weights of these rims? Any that fit without grinding? Spacers?

I am running Prostars all around...

15x3.5's in the front with a 3.5" backspacing
15x10's in the rear with a 7.5" backspacing

You need to run a 5/16" spacer in the front to fit the wheels on...you can run a spacer in the rear too (safely) if you run extended studs, if you don't want to run extended studs I would not use a spacer in the rear...

You are going to have to do a lot of grinding to the rear calipers to get them to fit..

Yea, the 16" XP's are an option, but I heard they are a lot heavier than the actual 15" prostars

yeah, the XP series is pretty much as heavy as stock wheels. i liked the prostars when i had them on my car, but you do have to use a spacer in the front and grind the rear calipers. i believe the prostars and draglites fit about the same. now i have the convo pros, the fronts bolt right up with no spacers or grinding and i heard the rears are suppose to do the same. the fronts weigh about 28 lbs with some kumho tires on there, but if you get the et fronts should be even lighter. Hope this helps.

Bummer i thought they made the XPs in 15s. Good thing i found that out. Does anyone know if the Magnum Drags will fit. Those are the ones i originally wanted but heard about having to grind the calipers on the back and all those stories. But i want a 15 so the XPs are a bad idea.

Really had my mind set on something from weld. I am huge on brand loyalty. Basically its all the same brands that were on my dads 69 camaro. Wierd cause i bought a chevy, also lunati cams eventually, hooker headers, and the list goes on and on. But if i cant get the magnums to fit up i might go with the convo pros. The look pretty good.

Bogart makes a drag light wheel that fits over the calipers with no grinding.

I used to have Weld Draglite XPs

16x8
16x9

And they fit in back w/o spacers or grinding. Weight was about 22lbs or the same as stock.

I have never seen a set of Weld Prostar XP's so I can't comment.

I did a lot of grinding in back for my 15x10 Pro Stars, and I run w/o spacers in back. No brake problems at all.

I'd do the Bogarts if I could do it all over again, but I ground my calipers down a couple years ago.

What did you grind the calipers with. Got any pictures or a write up anywhere.

Used a grinding wheel, and safety goggles.

I think Jsears8 or Fireball had pics.

ok guys, I bought 15x10 Draglites for my rear wheels. I got them from a guy who had them on a '98 SS. What do I have to do to get them to fit? Spacers or no spacers? I heard that the 10" wide rims require way more grinding than the 8" wide ones.

You need a BIG grinder, gloves, goggles, grease, and a rainy day. Put grese on the inner part of the wheel, toque the wheel down, see where it leaves the grease on the caliper, grind there. Repeat until no grease is left behind and then some.
