The easiest way to take out the grille is to just yank it out. Make sure you have all the outside tab pieces off car. The grill will be held by 2 bolts. When you pull on the grill, they will strip off the plastic grill then your done.

I just did this today. I yanked that crappy piece of plastic off without much trouble. Underneath I found it to be painted the same color as my car although the styrofoam was black.
I decided to cut a hole in the foam to allow more air into the engine bay. Is this just another example of GM detuning to Camaro so it wont compete with their hallowed Corvette I wonder.
I got some metal Gutter Guard from Home Depot and made the pieces large enough that I could just push them in by bending them (with cardboard on the edges so as not scratch the paint) until they were behind the bumper panel at which point I was able to slip them back towards me behind the paneling. No glue, no staples. They don't have room to move.
All in all it looks pretty good but now I need to take it to a body shop and get the facia clip cavities filled in and the whole facia repainted. Surely this is cheaper than the aftermarket facias and looks better to IMHO. I like the deep-set look.
Why on earth did GM just do this in the first place!? Was the crappy plastic an afterthought to meet some sort of govt. standard?

BTW the styrofoam is intended to push the air UP into the engine (look at it, its not sealed, there is an opening at the top).

Does GM make any kind of plugs to fill the holes from the plastic tabs in? I love the way this looks, except the holes that are there.
