I used to work in the parts dept at the local Caddy stealership so I ordered one up from GM. They are made to slide on and have a hole for a setscrew but the plastic inside is pretty soft. I just lined it up on my B&M ripper handle and started turning it to cut the threads. Didn't take much effort to do and is nice and tight. It never tries to thread off while driving.

I have a 07 Z06 and replaced my shift ****. If anyone is interested in my C6 Z06 shift **** let me know. I would do $55 shipped USPS Priority 3 days to the first offer or its eBay bound.
Obviously the Corvette people don't need them, so Im floating on over to your forum to unload.
Thanks!

the inside of the **** is hollow plastic so take you short stick put it in a vise grip to lock it and turn the **** on it will thread itself the c6 **** sits high because the stick wont go to the top of the **** i had my short stick cut in the middle with an 1"-1 1/2" taken out and welded back together heres how mine looked
