-5% is too dark,,, theres a reason its illegal on side windows cause there is danger involved if you cant see objects. If i was doing side windows again id go 20%.
-One reason why tint turns purple is because ppl clean it wrong.... your not supposed to clean it with windex it eats the tint,,, only soap and water. Plus i find 5% gets more purple when it fades then 20% and 35%,,, thus these shades give better overall better appearance. Expensive tint will turn purple with windex and fading also.
-If you never tinted before practice with the "cling on" kind first,,, plus if you get caught you can rip it off and re apply it later. It is a bit less clear to look thru but it works nice on curves, and if you mess it up you can try again,, with more water and squeegeeing.
-I use to tint my side windows but got caught a few times and was warned,,, no biggy,, but now i cant even get the car MVI inspected with it on anymore,,, and cleaning the sticky glue off is a bigger pain in the a$$ then paying a fine.
-Also apparently the cheaper tint doesnt stretch as much as say 3m stuff but if your a amateur installer you dont know how to pre-stretch the tint anyway so just use the cheap stuff. Plus if you never tinted before you will prob just be useing it for practice so get the cheapest stuff you can find.
-For back windows,,, unless its a flat truck window take it to a pro,,, it is very very hard to get nice,,, even if you know how to section it into strips. So dont bother.
-If you do it yourself,,, make sure your inside a garage inclosed away from wind and dirt,,, lots of area to work with,,,get yourself a heat gun or atleast a hair dryer, some use a heat gun or blow torch on the glass side only to help cure and dry the tint. New blades will help,, remove all the trim around the glass, clean glass well with fine steel wool and windex before hand. Once you start peeling the film off the tint start wetting down the sticky side when peeling as not to have it stick to itself. Dont bother with bought tint solution,,, use a spray bottle with luke warm water and 2-3 drops of dish soap to break the water tension.
