Good lord that's a lot of leds up there. Mine fade out to just like the OE bulbs but then once it's "off" you can see a very little bit of light coming from them, it almost looks like glare.

I've double, triple and quadruple checked everything. I had the mulitmeter set on auto and manual and made sure it was on the correct settings.

I'm gonna see if I can take some pictures of everything either tonight after work or this weekend and post them up.

Well I took some pictures so you guys could see what's going on. These were all done with the doors closed and the keys in the ignition so that everything "should" be off.

Dammit. I was hoping it wasn't a short. HOWEVER, if it's been like this even with the old bulb in there and it's been fine then I don't have anything really to worry about. Plus I've had the bulbs in there for a week now and haven't had any problems.

I haven't checked the map lights but I know they're on just like the dome light. I haven't checked them because I've read that other people have had problems with the metal contacts coming loose and don't really want to risk having to go through all that crap since I already have this going on.

Also, how bright is it with all those lights in there? I only have 9 lights and it's pretty damn bright.

You definitely have a short somewhere... Like I said make sure nothing is grounding out on a reflector, including the map lights.

tmc2k1, you need a Rigid Loop Festoon (that's what it's called). That way it won't get shaken out of place when you hit a bump and cause an electrical short.

Yes sir. The 4 volts comes from the negative on the negative terminal for the light and the postive on anything that should be a ground.

I know that it's a Rigid Loop Festoon that I need. I meant what size?

Will any of those festoon bulbs work?

No, you don't understand. It's a Rigid Loop Festoon. That's the type. They only come in one size. None of those bulbs are the proper replacement.

But still, you are getting 11volts when its supposed to be turned off too?? something is very messed up... Ive never seen this before... did you try a different multimeter.

It almost looks like thats not volts and its an ohm reading but iether way you probably know what your doing im just takin wild stabs here, I just cant see how you could get 4 volts from a neg wire lead to the metal on the car.

When did this first start happening,,, did you do anything,, anything at all to the car the same time this started happening other then the led install,, when installing the bulbs did you encounter any problems like needing to bend contacts on your dome light itself.

Well I'm no electrical engineer but I know enough to hold my own.

When everything is "off" with the positive to positive and negative to any ground I get roughly 12 volts +/-. And no I haven't tried a different multimeter.

The ONLY thing I did to the car was added the leds, didn't bend anything.

Are you 110% positive that the map lights are not grounding out on a reflector and causing the short? I had the same problem as you but I got it sorted out after lots of experimenting and disassembly/reassembly.

I haven't double checked but I'm about to leave work and will be able to check once I get home. I'll let you know.
