Default Is the SLP Camaro SS keychain really that rare?!?

Besides Ebay, ive looked everywhere and have found nothing... On ebay these things are going for $40-$80.. i would dish out $80 on one of these keychains but nobody seems to have them on here... and all the ones on ebay are used and all scratched... i had a 98 SS with an SS keycahin and im regretting now selling that camaro with the keychain... if i only knew how hard it would be to come across another one..

You can get one that just says CAMARO on it at Walmart for $4. It's in the proper 93-02 font.

WOW $80 for a keychain!!! What exactly is so special about it? I looked on Ebay and found a ton of camaro keychains but none were over 20 bucks.. http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=+ca...sacat=0&bkBtn=

Well, the thing about the Camaro SS key chains is that they were an SLP option. They were about $48.00 for two of them if I remember correctly and were actually second sticker content I think. I'd have to check the door to be sure, but I know it shows up on our invoice with the other SLP options. They were referred to as key fobs by SLP.

I think that was for the key chains and dash plaque wasnt it?

That was standard on the Firehawks so it didnt show up on the second sticker...I dont know about on the SSs.

If it was second sticker than that would mean only the cars that went to SLP could get them...right? That would have been strange if that was the only SLP option on them and they sent the car there just for that.

SLP still has some of the Firehawk ones and they are actually on clearance last time I looked. You could order the keychains from SLP without it being second sticker type of thing.

That would have been strange if that was the only SLP option on them and they sent the car there just for that.
All SSes were sent to SLP for the hood to be installed no matter what as far as I know. GM only took care of the SS suspensions and stuff if I remember correctly. I could be wrong about that.

I recommend the $4 Walmart option. The SLP one will just get scratched up. We've never used ours for exactly that reason. Just get one of these and smile that you saved a lot of money. Heck, get 3 or 4 of them as spares

For reference, this is the keychain the topic starter is referring to wanting.

I thought only 2nd sticker cars actually went to SLP. Of course I could be wrong too. They do have all the production numbers there so maybe they did. It would seem kind of ineffeciant to send a car there just to have a hood put on it though when it could have been done on the line just as easy....but then again maybe that type of thing has put GM in the postion its in now.

David Hamburger or Xsta would probably know the answer to that a little better than me. I only know the '94-'97 stuff really well. '93 and '98-'02 haven't ever been something I've followed REAL closely.

IIRC that is incorrect. Not all SS cars went to SLP, GM and even ASC aided and conducted the SS trim level.

Yeah, you identified everything right. Some of that stuff was part of the 35th Anniversary Portfolio that came with our 35th LE. Here's some more of the stuff. And sorry, none of it is for sale. The odd keychain thing you might not be able to ID is a tire tread depth gauge.

Bunch of silly junk you'd have to be foolish to actually use, as it can't be replaced. Kind of annoying! Can't even use the little note pad

Looks like they copied the 30th T/A with the stuff above. We have the Vin & car# on our ID card
