I took my finger & ran it over a edge to see if the glue was holding good & it literally felt like the edge of the leather was cemented on the plastic. It didnt even try to roll the edge of the material at all.
I applied the glue to the leather & the door panel. The leather in Steves kit is great. Its nice & soft. The cloth backing to it really seemed to like this glue too. Once it started getting really tacky on me it requires a little force to pull it up if you need to adjust but stuck right back down like it was never pulled up in that spot.
I'll have at least (1) of my trunk panels done this weekend, maybe both if I can get time. I do have a question though, what do I need to use to get that damn hatch trim off. I dont want to damage the plastic pryin on it with a flathead.
The panel nearest to the rear was held in by about 6 of them and the upper panels have metal clips on towers that clip into the hatch. these are easier to get loose but they are hard to get back into place without bending the clip towers.
I had to be careful and work from an edge and get it loose then slowly work that down. Worst panels to remove IMO.
I got the leather from Specialized Stainless & used my own glue I bought from a local upholstery shop. I pulled the panel out of the closet to check it the other day & nothing has come loose yet, so the glue appears to be holding perfect. The true test will be letting it sit in my car in the summer heat for 8hrs while i'm at work.
